Specification

The present disclosure relates to the field of wheels used in mechanized vehicles. In particular, the present disclosure relates to tractor wheels, more particularly, to a disc for tractor wheels.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art. [0003] A wheel for tractor, like wheels of other vehicles, includes a rim and a disc attached to the rim. However, typically, coupling of the disc to the rim in tractor wheels is through threaded fasteners. The rim includes multiple lugs welded to the rim. The disc includes multiple keyhole-shaped mounting holes. Threaded fasteners, such as bolts, are inserted through the keyhole-shaped mounting holes in the disc and corresponding holes in the lugs of the rim to mount the disc with rim to form a complete wheel assembly.
[0004] FIGs. 1A and IB show a typical wheel 100 for tractors having a disc 102 and a rim 104 mounted to the disc 102 by bolts 108 that are inserted through lugs 106 fixed to the rim 104 and are received in holes 110 in the disc 102. The holes 110 are keyhole shaped, which extend in radial direction, as shown in FIG. 1C. As can be understood, in case of a need to replace any of the disc and the rim, the replacement part should have matching location of the hole or the lugs, as the case may be. This requires that, besides the pitch circle diameter of the holes/lugs being same, center distance between the holes should also be same. The holes 110 on the disc 102 are typically grouped in a plurality of pairs of holes, each pair of holes being located on one of the plurality of flange segments, such as flange segment 112 as shown in FIG. IB, of the disc 102, and, even with same pitch circle diameter and number of flange segments (and thereby the number of pairs of holes 110) being same, the replacement part should have same center distance for the holes 110 in the pair of holes.

[0005] However, presently the discs and rim are made with different center distances. For example, discs and rims with the holes and lugs located at a center distance 114 of 96 mm and 104 mm are widely used in tractor wheels, thereby affecting interchangeability of the disc and rim. For example, if a disc cracks, the disc can only be replaced with the disc having holes at the same center distance. [0006] It would therefore be advantageous if it were possible to provide a solution that ensures interchangeability of the rim and disc in the wheels for tractors. [0007] There is therefore a need in the art to provide an improved disc for tractor wheels that can be fitted to rims designed for mounting on discs with different configuration of mounting holes.

holes.

[0015] Another object of the present disclosure is to provide an improved disc for tractor wheels with improved interchangeability that can be manufactured without any major modifications to the existing equipment.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0016] Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a disc for tractor wheels. Specifically, the present disclosure pertains to an improved disc for tractor wheels that improves interchangeability of the dis and rims of the tractor wheels. [0017] In an aspect, the disclosed disc for tractor wheels includes a plurality of equispaced flange segments configured to be fitted to a corresponding surface of a rim of the tractor wheel through a plurality of threaded hardware. Each of the flange segment includes a pair of holes for receiving the threaded fasteners. In an aspect, at least one of the holes of the pair of holes is elongated in circumferential direction which allows fitment of rims designed for mounting on discs with different center distances between the holes.
[0018] In an embodiment, the at least one elongated hole may be dimensioned to allow receiving, in the pair of holes, the threaded fastener fixed at center distance varying from 96mm to 104.31mm.
[0019] In an embodiment of application, each of the two holes in the pair of holes may be elongated, and sized to allow receiving, in the pair of holes, the threaded fastener fixed at center distance varying from 96mm to 104.31mm. [0020] Various objects, features, aspects and advantages of the inventive subject matter will become more apparent from the following detailed description of preferred embodiments, along with the accompanying drawing figures in which like numerals represent like components.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0021] The accompanying drawings are included to provide a further
understanding of the present disclosure, and are incorporated in and constitute a part of this specification. The drawings illustrate exemplary embodiments of the

present disclosure and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles
of the present disclosure.
[0022] FIGs. 1A and IB illustrate a conventional wheel for tractors showing
assembly of a disc and a rim through holes in the disc.
[0023] FIG. 1C illustrates a conventional disc showing keyhole shaped holes
located on a flange segment of the disc a center distance thereof.
[0024] FIG. 2 illustrates an exemplary view of the disclosed disc for tractor
wheels, showing elongated holes, in accordance with embodiments of the present
disclosure.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0025] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims. [0026] Each of the appended claims defines a separate invention, which for infringement purposes is recognized as including equivalents to the various elements or limitations specified in the claims. Depending on the context, all references below to the "invention" may in some cases refer to certain specific embodiments only. In other cases it will be recognized that references to the "invention" will refer to subject matter recited in one or more, but not necessarily all, of the claims.
[0027] Various terms are used herein. To the extent a term used in a claim is not defined, it should be given the broadest definition persons in the pertinent art have given that term as reflected in printed publications and issued patents at the time of filing.
[0028] Embodiments explained herein relate to a dis for tractor wheels that improves interchangeability of the disc and rim of the wheel. The mounting holes that are provided on the disc for receiving threaded fasteners for assembly of the

rim and the dis are made elongated so that rims designed for mounting on discs with
different configuration of mounting holes may be assembled with the disc, thereby
ensuring interchangeability..
[0029] It is to be appreciated that while the exemplary illustrations of FIG. 2
shows both the holes of the pair of holes to be elongated, it is possible to achieve
the same results and meet the objective, by having only one of the two holes
elongated, and the variation is well within the scope of the present disclosure
without any limitations whatsoever.
[0030] Referring now to FIG. 2, where a schematic view of a tractor wheel
based on the disclosed disc is shown, the wheel 200 includes a disc 202 and a rim
204, assembled together by threaded fasteners (not shown here), as shown in FIGs.
1A and IB. A flange extension 212 of the disc 202 includes a pair of holes, 210-1
and 210-2 (hereinafter, collectively referred to as holes 210) for receiving the
threaded fasteners.
[0031] In an embodiment, the holes 210 can be elongated in the circumferential
direction as shown in FIG. 2, which allows threaded fasteners with varying center
distances to be received in the pair of holes 210.
[0032] In an embodiment, size of the elongated holes 210, extent of elongation,
to be more specific, can be configured such that threaded fasteners with center
distances of 96mm to 104 mm to be received in the pair of holes 210. Since of 96
mm and 104 mm are widely used dimensions for center distance between the
threaded hardware, the elongated holes 210 can allow fitment of any of such rims
with the disc 202.
[0033] In an embodiment, only one of the two holes 210 of the pair of holes
may be elongated and sixes to meet the above stated requirement of ability to fit
threaded fasteners with center distances of 96mm to 104 mm.
[0034] Thus, the present disclosure provides a disc for tractor wheels that
improves interchangeability of disc and rim by allowing fitment of rims designed
for mounting on discs with different configuration of mounting holes. Further, the
disclosed changes to the disc are cost effective as the improved disc can be

manufactured without any major modifications to the existing equipment, as required change is only in the shape of holes.
[0035] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
