Abstract: Due to complex harness in nature, Electrical loom routing path and looms are passing through a non-crimped cutout in most of the cases on the aircraft. It is very become cumbersome process as other system pipe line will always come in way of electrical looms. Hence use of proper grommets for the non- crimped cutouts where sharp edges may cause chaffing for the cables passing through those cutouts are essential. These grommets can be put on the cutouts during structural assembly, itself to reduce the production time.
DESCRIPTION TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to introduction of grommets for the non- crimped cutouts during ■ structural assembly on Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
LCA aircraft electrical wiring design ensures the cable installation on the aircraft, it follows the design guidelines to ensure easy maintainability, easy rework scheme , ensures long life as per user requirement and ensures safety of the aircraft. In case of any change in electrical looms routing path and looms are passing in a non- crimped cut out due to design modification, then the wiring looms needs to be protected for chaffing /flaring by metal cut out which it is passing through, otherwise looms may get damaged and may lead to fatal errors while combating.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
Special grommets that are recommended for LCA aircraft is NYLON and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Nylon Grommet is used where the temperature range is -60 to +95 degree and PTFE grommet is used at high temperature zones. A proper procedure is to be ensured to use the correct grommets for the non- crimped cutouts where sharp edges may cause chaffing for the cables passing through those cutouts. These grommets can be put on the cutouts during structural assembly itself to reduce the production time. (Example of mounting grommet are shown in Fig 1 and 2 in box)
The wrong application of adhesive, incorrect procedure, incorrect curing time etc will result in grommets peel off. and the cables will get damaged in those area. Based on the recommendation, the adhesive used for the Nylon grommets is Araldite AV138/HV998 and for PTFE (Continuous operating temperature - 60 degree to +260 degree) adhesive to be used is PR 1791A.
