Abstract: Development of AN6227 - 10/H <& AN 6227-11/H, "O" Rings with alternate specification with.better physical properties. Presently the original specification material is inactive. The "O" Rings are being used in Lock jack main undercarriage <& Nose undercarriage assembly of Kiran Aircraft. The "O" Rings with alternate specification was tested for strength test and endurance test. This change in alternate specification has helped in better performance of the Lock Jack assembly and self-reliance in Foreign exchange savings.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION:
The AN.6227-10/H A AN 6227-11/H is used in Lock Jack LH, RH & Nose undercarriage of Kiran Aircraft. The 'O' Rings is in contact with hydraulic oil i.e. DTD 585 <& is used in inward retracting landing gear assembly. The lock jack Main undercarriage and Lock jack Nose undercarriage is hydraulically operated to push the lever in the uplock mechanism and release the uplock. The service temperature is -18°C to + 71°C and has no Ozone effect.
In the absence of original raw material, MIL - P - 25732 for fabrication of this 'O' ring an alternate material specification was developed (Haltrile 19/NFL-17-124A-24B7).
OBJECTIVE OF INVENTION:
The main objective of the invention is to develop an alternate specification for fabrication of 'O' Ring, AN 6227-10/H <& AN 6227-11/H as the original specification is inactive/obsolete.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION:
The 'O'-rings are being used in Lock Jack LH, RH Main Undercarriage A Nose undercarriage of Kiran Aircraft for the prevention of leak. The lock jack Main undercarriage <& Nose undercarriage hydraulically operated to push the lever in the uplock mechanism and release the uplock.
The original material used for fabrication of 'O'ring is MIL-P-25732 is obsolete and hence the need to invent new material for the 'O' ring to maintain the serviceability of the aircraft.
The original material physical and chemical properties were analyzed with alternate specification. The fabrication of 'O' ring with alternate specification was carried out with necessary testing.
TEST CARRIED OUT:
The following tests were carried out on the 'O' Ring and results found satisfactory:
1. Dimensional check.
2. Fitment on assembly.
3. Strength test
4. Functional checks on assembly.
5. Endurance tests. c-
CLAIMS:
1. The 'O'rings had been designed and tested to with stand endurance test of 8000 operation cycles with strength test of 4500 PSI.
2. The 'O'rings with alternate specification was developed to maintain the aircraft airworthy, achieve self-reliance and foreign exchange savings.
