Abstract: This invention relates to the introduction of new equivalent wires and cables to replace the parent wires and cables used in Hawk Aircraft. The KP260 series wires and cables are used in various systems of Hawk military Aircraft; There are issues related to longer supply lead time which in turn leads to delay in production of aircraft. Thus, the above issue affects the delivery of the Aircraft in schedule. Hence, it was decided to invent new equivalent wires and cables to replace the parent wires and cables used in Hawk Aircraft. The specifications were prepared in accordance with the requirements of Panavia standards. The development of the wires, and cables were taken up through AA/s Sanghvi Aerospace pvt.ltd, Ahmedabad. The wires and cables were undergone all qualification tests as per the qualification test schedule issued by the concerning certification authority and found satisfactory. Finally, the SAKP260 series wires and cables are cleared by the certification authority.
The following specification particularly describes the nature of invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION:
The KP260 series wires and cables are used in various systems of Hawk Aircraft. These wires and cables are procured from various countries. The procurement is taking more lead time and thereby the production of the Hawk aircraft is affected. Hence, it was decided to invent new equivalent wires and cables meeting the requirements and to set up manufacturing facility in India.
OBJECTIVE OF INVENTION:
The main objective of the invention is to develop new equivalent SAKP260 series wires and cables to replace the KP260 series wires and cables which are already used in the Hawk Aircraft.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION:
The imported KP260 series, wires and cables are made based on the Panavia standards. These series are high temperature wires and cables and are using nickel plated copper conductors as cores. The specification of the wires and cables were studied and the technical specification was prepared based on the Panavia standards. The technical specification was cleared through the regulating authority. The qualification test schedule were prepared and cleared through the certifying agency i.e RCMA (A/C).
The SAKP260 series wires are made up of nickel plated copper/copper alloy and nickel plated high strength copper alloy insulated with polyimide/FEP tape and PTFE tape wrapped and sintered. These wires are configured as single/ multicore cables.along with nickel plated copper wire braid protected with additional Polyimide/FEP tape and PTFE jacket. The sample wires and cables were manufactured through M/s Sanghvi Aerospace pvt.ltd, Ahmedabad as per the approved manufacturing process. Then, the sample wires and cables were checked for their parameters in line with specifications in coordination with the regulating authority. Subsequently, the qualification tests were carried out to satisfaction. . After the successful completion of the qualification testing, the qualification test reports were submitted to the certification agency. Further, the SAKP260 series wires and cables were cleared by the certifying agency for use on Hawk Aircraft.
TEST CARRIED OUT:
The newly invented SAKP260 series wires and cables were checked as per the technical specification. The samples were subjected to various qualification tests sueh as insulation resistance, shrinkage, lamination sealing, thermal shock resistance, wrap test, flammability, dynamic cut through, Cable jacket removability, Jacket blocking, Ageing stability, resistance to fluids etc. and found satisfactory. Finally, the samples were checked and cleared by the regulating authorities.
CLAIMS:
1. The new SAKP260 series wires and cables are equivalent to the existing KP260 wires and cables in Hawk Aircraft.
2. The long lead time of procurement was overcome by using the new equivalent wires and cables thereby avoiding bottle necks during production and ensuring timely delivery of the Aircraft.
3. Became self reliant.
