Iot Based Home Automation With Smart Billing Estimation And Energy Conservation

Abstract: The project provides an effective IoT (Internet of Things) implementation for monitoring and controlling home appliances through the Internet. Portable devices are utilized as user interfaces for the home automation system. They can connect to the home automation network through an Internet gateway, which employs low-power communication protocols like Wi-Fi to communicate. Via Wi-Fi as a communication protocol and a self-made server architecture, this project seeks to control home appliances using manual switches, sensor-based applications, automated ML algorithms, and Smartphones. The user can operate the directly linked appliances via a server-based interface over the internet, as well as manual switches, using a smartphone app. Its capability is an added element that enhances the aspect of protection against threats.

Specification

Description: Figure 1: In figure 1, the box shows some switches with led lights along with the dimensions. The led lights indicate the state of the various appliances i.e. on or off. The IoT-based switches are pre-installed in the box which directly connects to the world wide web via wifi and those iot based switches as well as manual switches work in coordination. These switches are also accessed and controlled by Google assistant to easily turn on and off the appliances via voice commands.
Figure 2: In figure 2, the relay input sockets are placed at the rear side of this device, these sockets have two terminals each, there are a total of 8+4 sockets. Each socket has a live and neutral terminal which are connected to the live and neutral ends of the appliances that are to be turned on and off. The 8 sockets above are the low amperage sockets, for appliances like lights, fan, television, etc, the 4 sockets placed below the top 8, are for heavy appliances like ac, heater, geyser, etc. These sockets will be providing power to all the appliances connected to this device.
Figure 3: In figure 3, the side view of the device is given which represents the dimensions of the prototype as well as shows the heights of the buttons and leds from the casing. The ML algorithms and the controllers, and the chips come pre-installed inside the casing which monitors electricity consumption per device and also controls the devices (switches on and off) to conserve electricity. , Claims: We Claim:
• A smart automation system with an energy meter which also helps to conserve electricity.
• This device can be used from anywhere around the world.
• To turn on and off our home appliances by manual switches, smartphones, and Google Assistant.
• Estimates monthly electricity consumption bill by an ML algorithm.
• Sends emergency alerts to the owner's smartphone, during fire breakouts or any other mishaps.
• Controls temperature inside our houses, to conserve electricity automatically.
• Monitors soil moisture and waters plants automatically.
• Watering plants can be done from anywhere around the world by controlling the pumps
• Water tank levels are monitored and switched on and off automatically, with an added option to control them manually from anywhere in the world.
