FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to a device for holding a fire extinguisher placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION AND PRIOR ART
As per the prior art available, for cargo vehicle variants, one fire extinguisher is provided for driver cabin occupants and for passenger vehicle variants two fire extinguisher are provided one each for the front row and rear row passengers.
The new innovative layout of the fire extinguisher is such that it limits the number of fire extinguisher to one, which can be easily accessed by all the passengers during any incident of fire in the vehicle in both cargo and passenger variants. Hence this layout provider a simple, convenient, efficient and cost effective solution to the vehicle safety requirement.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is therefore an object of the invention to propose a device for holding a fire extinguisher placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars which can be accessed by all the occupants of the vehicle.
Another object of the invention is to propose a device for holding a fire extinguisher placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars which with improved layout enables usage of one fire extinguisher for both front row and rear row occupants.
A further object of the invention is to propose a device for holding a fire extinguisher placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars which is cost effective.
A still further object of the invention is to propose a device for holding a fire extinguisher placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars which enables elimination of one fire extinguisher resulting in a weight saving of 2.5 kg/vehicles so that fuel economy of the vehicle is improved.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a device (D) for holding a fire extinguisher (1) placed between driver and co-driver seat in cargo and passenger cars. This fire extinguisher is placed above member engine room center of the vehicle. The device comprises of a clamp type bracket and a support bracket. A clamp type bracket (2) is fixed on the member engine room center for holding the fire extinguisher. A support bracket (3) is also fixed on the member engine room center, for resting the front neck of the fire extinguisher. The clamp type bracket is designed in such a way that it holds the fire extinguisher and is assembled to the member engine room center either by welding or through bolts/clips/clamps or any other fixing mechanism either directly or through some attachment. The intended objectives served by this clamp type bracket are (i) to ensure easy insertion and withdrawal of the fire extinguisher from both front and rear of the vehicle when mounted above member engine room center between driver and co-driver seat (ii) to prevent free play between the clamp type bracket (2) and the fire extinguisher in vehicle dynamic condition. For this purpose, a dampening agent (4) is fixed on the inner side of the bracket so that there is no metal to metal contact between this bracket and the fire extinguisher while the dampening agent (4) on the inner side of the clamp type bracket (2) also acts as a protective agent to prevent any possibility of scratch/damage to the fire extinguisher (1) (iii) to ensure that the Withdrawal of the fire extinguisher is not so easy so as to allow the fire extinguisher to be taken out by the children sitting in the rear seat and causing accidental operation of the fire extinguisher (1) in the vehicle.
Further in the new innovative layout, a support bracket is provided in the front of the fire extinguisher so that the neck of the fire extinguisher is adequately supported in the lower half or maximum 2/3 of the circumference of the neck area of the fire extinguisher. This ensures,
a) Proper support of the fire extinguisher in vehicle static and dynamic condition.
b) Easy withdrawal both from front row seats and rear row seats of the vehicle.
The invention has the following advantages:
1. Ease of Accesibility to both Front row and Rear row occupants of the vehicle: The new layout permits the fire extinguisher to be accessed by all the occupants of the vehicle. The improved accessibility by this layout enables usage of one fire extinguisher for both front row and rear row occupants.
2. Cost Optimisation: Since the new innovative fire extinguisher layout requires only one fire extinguisher which can be accessed from both rows of occupants, there is a significant cost advantage per vehicle.
3. Weight Saving: The new innovative layout of fire extinguisher enables elimination of one fire extinguisher, resulting in a potential weight saving of 2.5 Kgs/vehicle resulting in improvement in Fuel Efficiency of the vehicle.
In another embodiment of the invention, the fire extinguisher (1) is placed below rear sit above panel, rear floor of the vehicle (5) as shown in Fig.3 and is provided with same
dampening effect as shown in Fig.4. A solid flat plate (6) holds the clamp type bracket (2) and the support bracket (3) together.

WE CLAIM
1. A device (D) for holding a fire extinguisher (1) placed between driver and co-driver
seat in cargo and passenger cars comprising:
a clamp type bracket (2) for holding the fire-extinguisher (1);
a support bracket (3) for resting the front neck of the said fire extinguisher;
characterised in that,
the said clamp type bracket (2) is assembled to the member engine room center and
the said support bracket (3) is provided in front of the fire extinguisher (1) ensuring
proper support of the said fire extinguisher in vehicle static and dynamic conditions
and easy withdrawal both from front row seats and rear row seats of the vehicle.
2. A device (D) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the device is disposed in between driver and co-driver seat.
3. A device (D) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the clamp type bracket (2) prevents free play between the clamp type bracket (2) and the fire extinguisher (1).
4. A device (D) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a dampening agent (4) fixed on the inner side of the clamp type bracket (2) prevents any possibility of scratch/damage to the said fire extinguisher.
5. A device (D) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the clamp type bracket (2) is assembled to the member engine room center either by welding or through bolts/clips/clamps or any other fixing mechanism either directly or through some attachment.
6. A device (D) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the device is disposed below rear seat above panel rear floor of the vehicle (5) wherein a solid flat plate (6) holds the clamp type bracket (2) and the support bracket (3) together.
