Specification

DESC:Field of the invention:

The present invention relates to a packaging, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a leak-proof packaging box and process of making the leak-proof packaging box.

Background of the invention:

Conventionally, packaging of food items in restaurants and food industries is done in plastic container and metal container. Although, the metal food packaging and plastic food containers are widely used in daily life, the use of plastic container and other plastic material is banned in various countries, including various parts of India. It is well established fact that use of plastic affects environment as it takes hundreds of years to biodegrade the plastic.

Hence, users have shifted to use paper container or paper box. The paper boxes are of low cost, light in weight, and easy for logistics. The paper boxes are also biodegradable and ecofriendly which has increased the demand of paper boxes for packing food items. However, most of the current paper boxes have poor sealability, which causes leakage in case liquid or semisolid food item is packed therein.

Accordingly, there exists a need to provide a leak-proof packaging box and process of making the leak-proof packaging box which overcomes above-mentioned drawbacks.

Objects of the invention

An object of the present invention is to reduce leakage of food item within packaged paper box.

Yet another object of the present invention is to promote use of ecofriendly paper packaging box.
Summary of the invention

Accordingly, the present invention provides a packaging box (100). The packaging box comprises a central base (10), four side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d) extending upwardly from the central base (10), four pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d) configured in-between the four side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d), a cover flap (16) connected to the side wall (12a), a first set of sealing flaps (18b, 18c, 18d,) configured on upper end of three side walls (12b, 12c, and 12d), a second set of sealing flaps (18e, 18f, 18g, and 18h) configured on upper end of the pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d).

Typically, wherein the central base (10) is square or rectangular in shape.

Typically, wherein the cover flap (16) comprises border (16a) and a cut-out portion (16b).

Typically, wherein both ends (A, B) of the sealing flap (18c) are curved in shape.

Brief description of drawings

Figure 1 shows a schematic drawing of a leak-proof packaging box, in accordance with the present invention.

Detailed description of the invention

The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.

The present invention provides a leak-proof packaging box (100) and process for making a leak-proof a packaging box. The packaging box (100) is made out of paper, for example, thick chart paper which is leak-proof and sturdy. The packaging box (100) made by the process of the present invention allows user to carry liquid or semisolid food items therethrough without spillage.

Referring now to figure 1, there is shown a packaging box (100), in accordance with the present invention. The packaging box (100) comprises a central base (10), four side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d) capable of extending upwardly from the central base (10), and four pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d) configured in-between the four side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d) respectively. In an embodiment, the central base (10) is made square or rectangular in shape depending on the requirement of the user.

The packaging box (100) further comprises a cover flap (16) connected to the side wall (12a). Specifically, the cover flap (16) comprises border (16a) across all surface except the surface at which it is connected to the side wall (12a) and a cut-out portion (16b) configured at its one corner for easy opening of the box (100) when packed and sealed.

The packaging box (100) furthermore comprises sealing flaps (18b, 18c, 18d,), configured on upper end of three side walls (12b, 12c, and 12d) except the side wall (12a) where the cover flap (16) is attached and the sealing flaps (18e, 18f, 18g, and 18h) on upper end of the pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d).

In preferred embodiment, the central base (10), the side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d), the pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d) and the cover flap (16) are made as a single unit in one paper by making gridlines on the paper and cutting the paper across the gridline by means of machine.

Specifically, the both ends (A, B) of the sealing flap (18c) of the side wall (12c) are curved in shape. More specifically, the curved ends are directed towards inner side of the side wall (12c).

In another aspect, the present invention provides a process of making the packaging box (100). The process is described in conjunction with figure 1.

The process comprises making gridlines on a paper and cutting the paper across the gridline by means of machine to make a central base (10), the four side walls (12a, 12b, 12c, and 12d), the pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d) and the cover flap (16).

The process further comprises erecting the box by means of carton erecting machine and pasting the pasting flaps (14a, 14b, 14c, and 14d) by means of glue-282 so that the packing box (100) is ready for packing the food item.

Once the food item is packed in the packaging box (100), the process comprises sealing the sealing flaps (18b, 18c, 18d, 18e, 18f, 18g, and 18h) of the packaging box (100) by means of a sealing machine. Arrangement of the sealing flaps and unique curved shape of the of the ends of the sealing flap (18c) provides leak-proof packaging box (100).

Advantages of the invention
1. The packaging box (100) is leak-proof.
2. The packaging box (100) is environment friendly.
