DESC:TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a single weld-fixture for locating engine and transmission mounting brackets on main frame structure. More particularly, the present invention relates to process of designing and development of locating fixtures for welding of power train brackets.
BACKGROUND
A vehicle includes a vehicle frame assembly which serves as a platform for the other major structural components of the vehicle. The body of the vehicle is supported on top of the vehicle frame assembly, and the drive train is supported underneath it. In addition, the engine and suspension system are mounted on the vehicle frame assembly. The vehicle frame assembly includes various mounting structures for connection to the engine and suspension system. For instance, the vehicle frame assembly is usually provided with engine mounts, control arm mounts and shock absorber mounts.
The fixture designing and manufacturing is considered as complex process that demands the knowledge of different areas, such as geometry, tolerances, dimensions, procedures and manufacturing processes. As per the existing technology, two independent locating welding fixtures were to locate both the engine and transmission brackets. The independency of both the locators posed consistency problem in achieving the required alignment and dimension accuracy.
The technology existing in the prior art causes a delay in producing component that is required to be welded in angle leading to inconsistency in achieving dimensional repeatability and proper alignment.

OBJECTIVE
The primary objective of the present invention is to locate engine and transmission mounting brackets on main frame by employing a single locating weld fixture.
Yet another objective of the present invention is to improve the dimensional accuracy; reduce setup time; reduce the rejections; avoid rework on assembly; improve the productivity and quality of the product; and also to ensure alignment between engine and transmission on main frame.
The instant invention achieves the object by designing and developing a single locating weld fixture whereby the engine and transmission mounting brackets are located in single setup.
SUMMARY
According to the present invention a single weld fixture is designed for the purpose of locating both the engine and the transmission mounting brackets and all related brackets in a single setup. Said locating fixture is designed by referring to the engine front mounting brackets and ROPS (Roll Over Protection Structure) mounting location that forms an integral part of the main frame structure and using said reference to locate all six brackets in a single setup.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, a taper structure is designed and employed that is suitable to the ROPS structure of the main frame that is required to maintain the necessary angle of 5o.
According to yet another preferred embodiment of the present invention, said invention is implemented with the help of bolt and nuts; dowels; and fabricated structures.
