Specification

The Present Invention relates to the Loom Fabrication Board for making wire
Looms which are used in making various connections for electrical and electronics
circuits. The wire Looms are separately made using the Loom Fabrication Board
irrespective of the assembly of the parts where they are to be used.
15
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
20
The reliability of any electrical or electronic circuit is dependent on the conductive
path form one card or equipment to other. There are several wires required for making
these conductive paths. A Wire loom is bunch of such conductors wrapped with some
protective covering. The ends of Looms are ready for use in the circuits. In other words
25 a Wire Loom is an assembly of cables or wires which transmit electrical signal or power.
One of the electronic Card of Ice Detector System is responsible for the
generation of Output commands like switching ON/OFF the Heaters, information to crew
members and parameters for recording devices. This Electronic Card is combination of
two Sub-Cards, one Card with small components like ICs, diodes, small resistances and
30 capacitances while the second Card consists of the relays, high rating capacitors and
resistances. These two sub-cards are electrically connected by bunch of wires. The
Invention facilitates this wire loom assembly process separate from the assembly of the
two sub-cards. Thus the overall production time for the Electronic Card is reduced.

In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a smaller
Loom Fabrication Board for wire loom assembly of Electronic Card.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a lighter
10 Loom Fabrication Board for wire loom assembly of Electronic Card.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a rigid
Loom Fabrication Board for wire loom assembly of Electronic Card.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present Invention is to provide a Loom
Fabrication Board which can be properly and effectively utilized by individual during
15 assembly of wire loom.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present Invention is to provide holes on
the Loom Fabrication Board for temporary fixing of loom wires during assembly.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present Invention is to provide Pins on
the Loom Fabrication Board for supporting the loom wires during assembly.
20 In accordance with yet another aspect of present Invention is to provide
numbering on the Loom Fabrication Board for indicating the loom wires position during
assembly.
Briefly, the present Invention is small, lightweight and easy to use Loom
Fabrication Board for assembly of wire loom assembly of Electronic Card. It consist of
25 Holes and pins for supporting the loom wires during assembly. Also, numbers allotted
and engraved on Loom Fabrication Board for each hole so that the proper assembly as
per drawing of the Electronic card will carry out.
By binding the many wires into a Loom, the wires can be better secured against
the adverse effects of vibrations, abrasions, and moisture. By constricting the wires into
30 a non-flexing bundle, usage of space is optimized, and the risk of electrical short is
decreased. Since the installer has only one wire loom to install (as opposed to multiple
wires), installation time is decreased and the process can be easily standardized.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
20
Referring to figure 1, 2 and 3, the present Invention is a Loom Fabrication Board
for assembly of wire loom of Electronic Card which is use for the generation of Output
commands like switching ON/OFF the Heaters, information to crew members and
parameters for recording devices of Ice Detector System. This Electronic Card is
25 combination of two Sub-Cards, one Card with small components like ICs, diodes, small
resistances and capacitances while the second Card consists of the relays, high rating
capacitors and resistances. These two sub cards are electrically connected with fifteen
different wires. The ends of these wires are connected to the metallic tabs present on
both of the sub-cards. After the electrical connection and some fastening with screws
30 and columns, the two sub-cards becomes a single Electronic card which can be utilized
for the output command signals generation.
Figure 1 comprises the top view of the Loom Fabrication Board. It shows the
position of Holes and Pins required for supporting the loom wires as per the requirement
35 of the electrical drawing of the electronic Card. The necessary dimensions required for
Annexure‐II
the Loom assembly are measured for designing of the Loom Fabrication Board. This
Loom board enables the Loom making process rapid and easy to use. The Loom wires
get started from one hole by inserting the initiating end into that hole and it passes
5 through the pins to the other holes for their termination.
A large number of holes and pins are required for assembly of the loom for bunch
of wires of the Electronic Card. The diameter of Holes and Pins were made for easy
fixing of wires as per the drawing requirement. The pins have a height as per
10 requirement and ease of assembler and the Pin to Pin distance is also as per
requirement. The length and breadth of the Loom Fabrication Board is made for
covering all loom wires of the output command as per requirement. The thickness of
plate of Loom Fabrication Board is few millimeter and is made up of aluminum material
for making the Loom Fabrication Board light weight and durable.
15
Figure 2 comprises of the Front view of the Loom Fabrication Board. The four
aluminum columns of diameter ten millimeter placed at each of four corners. These
columns support the Loom Fabrication Board during loom assembly process.
20 Figure 3 comprises of the side view of the Loom Fabrication Board. The support
columns are placed near to the distance from their respective edges. The columns have
a few centimeters height for appropriate distance as required for its assembly process.
The columns are fixed to the Loom Fabrication Board.
25 The Loom Fabrication Board is divided into two parts (refer figure 1). The left
section of Loom Fabrication Board is as per the Tabs of Electronic Sub-card-I whereas
the right section of the Loom Fabrication Board is as per the Tabs of Electronic sub
card-II. A gap is made in the Loom Fabrication Board between these two sections for
making the loom easy to fold between the two Electronic sub-cards. Each section (right
30 and left) of the Loom Fabrication Board is having the length of as per requirement. The
Pins are placed at a distance of fifty millimeter from the lower edge (refer figure 1).
Annexure‐II
. The thickness and type of the wires were selected as given in the electrical
drawing of the Electronic card. Thereafter cutting of the wires is carried out as per the
document of this Electronic card. The wires are then inserted in the respective holes on
the Loom Fabrication Board. With the help of 5 this Loom Fabrication Board it becomes
very easy to just insert the wires in their respective holes one after another. The fixed
wires are then wrapped with varnish cloth with one third of overlapping on the previous
layer. Tape of the varnished cloth must fix branches and wires coming out of the loom.
Varnish fabric is glued at the beginning, end of winding and after every three to five
10 turns with glue. Then the loom is dried at room temp for twenty four hours or for two to
three Hours at Eighty degrees Celsius. Thereafter the loom is fastened with coarse
twisted nylon thread. The Whole operation is now not dependent on the assembly
process of either Electronic sub-card-I or sub card-II.
15 The Loom Fabrication Board is specially designed for the assembly of wire Loom
for connecting the two Cards to form a single electronic Card which can be used for
output commands generation for Ice Detector system. The Loom Fabrication Board is
small, lightweight, durable and easy to use by the assembler. The whole loom assembly
process for the Electronic card is easily carried out using the Loom Fabrication Board.
20 This Loom Fabrication Board can easily withstand the temperature required for drying
the glue of varnish fabric on the loom during the assembly process.
The separate assembly of the wire loom for this electronic Card reduced the
production cycle time and hence the cycle time of the whole Ice Detector System.
