Abstract: This invention relates to louver with garnish for air conditioning unit of vehicle comprising of atleast two louvers accommodated inside a louver housing integrally provided with a separator therebetween, wherein the louvers are detachably attached to said separator and said housing is provided with a special outer profile.
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to louver with garnish for air conditioning unit of vehicle.
The louver is compact with aesthetics.
PRIOR ART
Car air conditioner outlet grills are used to direct the Air flow in thc dcsired
direction by the occupant. These louvers are placed at the center of the
instrument Panel through Garnish or Louvers Housing. Due to up-down
movement, the center Louvers are separated out which leaves less room for the
styling to make uniform! single curved surface.
Further, some louvers for the air conditioning unit of vehicle are known to have
been provided. The same is discussed herein below:-
US 5573458:- An air-conditioner outlet mounted into the holes predetermined
on thc wall comprises a seat with multiple wind outlets having a slot thcrcin for
slidably receiving a pushing button to adjust a plurality of movable leaves
horizontally and elevationally. A link having a series of holes is connected with
a plurality of movable leaves through the connection with the second lower
protrusions provided at the other part of the lower end of the movable leaves
with the holes of the link. Therefore, the pushing button is able to adjust the
movable leaves by means of the connection between the second lower
protrusions and the holes of the link.
The above mentioned patent comprises of separator with a stopper,
construction of which is different. Further, it is expensive.
Us 4905580:- A grille for air conditioning provided in an automobile and
others comprising: a main body case having an opening for blowing out the
wind, a plurality of curvable wind direction adjusting plates having one side
and the other side extending in the substantially intersecting direction with the
flow direction of the wind, the one side being supported on the main body case,
a support member which supports the other side of the wind direction
adjusting plate, and moving members for moving the support members on an
arc locus relatively in parallel to the main body case, and the arc having a
shorter radius of curvature than a span between the two sides of the wind
direction adjusting plate in a free state.
The patent consists of a single louver with air flow only in one direction.
CN 201 173556Y:- The utility model discloses an automobile air conditioner air
outlet assembly which comprises a housing, a panel, an exposed fan blade set,
and an exposed fan blade set linkage mechanism, wherein, the exposed blade
set linkage mechanism comprises an operating wheel, an exposed blade set
connecting lever and ~n end part rotating shaft of each blade, the operating
wheel is provided with a transmission shaft connected into a whole, the
exposed blade set connecting lever is provided with an arc through groove
matched with the transmission shaft of the operating wheel in a sliding way. By
utilizing the structure in the automobile air conditioner air outlet assembly, the
operating wheel is provided with the transmission shaft connected into a
whole, the exposed blade set connecting lever is provided with the arc through
groove matched with the transmission shaft of the operating wheel in a sliding
way, the rotating axes of the exposed fan blade set and that of the operating
wheel are in a certain angle, the automobile air conditioner air outlet assembly
overcomes the shortcoming of the prior art that the panel can be only plane or
single curved surface, the panel can be the double curved surface, widens the
design of the beautiful appearance of the panel, can be adapted to the
continuously improved matching and arrangement of the automobile air
conditioner appearance, and enables the structural design to be compact.
This louver is not barrel type, unlike louver of the present invention.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide louver with garnish for
air conditioning unit of vehicle which overcomes disadvantages associated with
the prior arts.
Another object of the present invention is to provide louver with garnish for air
conditioning unit of vehicle, in which a unique Louver Separator is provided,
which can be used as stopper for up down motion.
Further object of the present invention is to provide louver with garnish for air
conditioning unit of vehicle which prevents air flow losses.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided louver with garnish for air
conditioning unit of vehicle comprising of atleast two louvers accommodated
inside a louver housing integrally provided with a separator therebetween,
wherein the louvers are detachably attached to said separator and said housing
is provided with a special outer profile.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
The present invention is directed to louver with garnish for air conditioning
unit of vehicle. Now, reference may be made to fig. 1, wherein the center louver
housing (1) comprising of atleast two louvers (2) accommodated inside it. The
louver housing (1) is integrally provided with a separator (7). The two louvers
(2) are detachably attached to the separator.
The louver housing (1) is having a special outer profile giving rise to a compact
shape, thereby occupying less space. Further, the profile (2c) of the louver
housing (1) is such that, it avoids air flow losses. Reference may be made to fig.
lB dcpicting louver housing shape to prevent air flow losses. Furthcr, the
garnish is integrated with the louver itself.
The gap (G) between the two louvers is kept minimum by mounting louvers on
the separator of present invention as shown in fig. 1. The separator (7) acts as
a stopper for up/down motion (as shown in fig. 2). Portion extending from
inside surface of louver case (2) is overlapped with separator (7). The extended
portion (2d & 2e, fig. iB) and separator comprise of stopping means.
Now, reference may be made to fig. lA indicating louver assembly.
Louver Assembly (R-Side):
Step 1: Vertical Fins (5) connected together through connector (6) to obtain
vertical fin assembly which is inserted in the louver case (2).
Step 2 Bush (4) is inserted into the shim (3) to obtain Bush and Shim
assembly, which is inserted in the predetermined slot (2b) of the Louver case
(2).
Step 3: the sub assembly of Louver case (2) is assembled to Louver main
housing (1) by inserting Louver case shaft (2a) in the Louver main Housing Slot
(la) while the other end which comprises of Bush (4) and Shim (3) assembled
with the Lock (7a) on the separator (7).
Louver Assembly (L-Side): Same process (Step 1 to Step 2) is to be followed for
the Left Side Louver.
In the present invention, rotation shaft i.e. louver case shaft 2a is disposed
below a center line of louver case (2) with respect to height. Therefore, top
surface of louver case (2) is provided with smaller curvature than bottom
surface thereof. In other words, this feature makes the outermost portion of
louver main housing (1) in low position. As a result, forward visibility from
driver is widened since outer shell of louver main case (1) can be shaped more
compact.
Up-Down movement: (Fig. 2).
Louver Up down mechanism can be achieved by pushing Louver.
As Shown in the figure 2, stopping mechanism can be achieved by resting
Louver extended surface on the separator. The louver can be positioned in
extreme-downward position (D) and extreme-upward position (U).
Referring to fig. 3, fig. 3(a), 3(b) and 3(c) indicating Center Position, Extreme
Left Position and Extreme Right Position respectively.
Left-Right movement can be achieved by moving the knob of center vertical fin.
Center vertical fin transfers motion to the other fins through the connector.
It is to be noted that the present invention is susceptible to modifications,
adaptations and changes by those skilled in the art. Such variant embodiments
employing the concepts and features of this invention are intended to be within
the scope of the present invention, which is further set forth under the
following claims: -
WE CLAIM
1. Louver with garnish for air conditioning unit of vehicle comprising of
atleast two louvers accommodated inside a louver housing integrally
provided with a separator therebetween, wherein the louvers are
detachably attached to said separator and said housing is provided with
a special outer profile.
2. Louver with garnish as claimed in claim 1, wherein the profile of the
louver housing is such that, it avoids air flow losses and is compact.
3. Louver with garnish as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the gap bctween
the two louvers is minimum.
4. Louver with garnish as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein
the separator acts as a stopper for up/down motion in which the
extended portion of said louver case and separator comprising of
stopping means.
5. Louver with garnish as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein
sub assembly of the louver case of right side louver assembly is
assembled to said louver main housing such as herein described.
6. Louver with garnish as claimed in claim 5, wherein the sub assembly
comprising of vertical fin assembly inserted in the louver case and bush
and shim assembly inserted in the slot of the louver case.
7. Louver with garnish as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein
for left side louver assembly, top surface of the louver case is provided
with smaller curvature than bottom surface, thereby positioning the
outermost portion of said louver main housing in low position.
8. Louver with garnish for air conditioning unit of vehicle substantially as
herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
