"Low Loss Power Convertor"
Abstract: A low loss power converter having a first inductor connected to a converter circuit comprising; current sensing elements and switching bridge. A second inductor, a switch, a plurality of diodes and a clamping circuit are connected together and in parallel to the converter circuit. At high frequencies, the current sensing elements and second inductor in accordance with various switching sequences of the switching devices provides provide low loss turning on and turning off of the switches. The input current to the converter circuit can be suitably programmed to provide the desired power factor correction. Said clamping circuit and a diode are used to limit the voltage at the drain of the switch which is in connection with said clamping circuit and a diode. The presented system is capable to provide ac-dc, ac-ac, dc-dc and dc-ac power conversion and using a transformer at the output stepped up and down voltage can be drawn with one added advantage of isolation.
