Abstract: A lubrication system for an engine, more, articularly; a continuous variabl transmission engine comprising an oil pump branching out into one passages, one passage going the cylinder head Jr providing lubrication to the camshaft and bearings nd another passage going to the ankshaft bearing and connecting rod gudgeon pin aring, said bricating oil passing through a passage hole, provided in the crankcase, into a Kirst cavity; a lassage provided diagonally across the crankshaft, one end of the passage opening out at about the entre of the said cavity, the other end opening out ]ta annular second cavity fom1oo! by a cup on the rmtkshaft web, said second cavitt being made leakproof, such that when the oil from the pump gets filled in the first cavity, the oil is forced under pressure to pass through the pasage in the enters into a hole provided in the crank pin and subsequently moves further through a small annular hole into the connecting rod bearing.
We Claim:
1 .A lubrication system for an engine, more particularly, a continuous variable transmission engine, comprising an oil pump branching out into two passages, one passage going to the cylinder head for providing lubrication to the caijashaft and bearings and another passage going to the crankshaft bearing and connecting rod gudgeon pin bearing, said lubricating oil passing through a passage hole, provided in the crankcase, into a first cavity; a passage provided diagonally across the crankshaft, one end of the passage opening out at about the centre of the said cavity, the other lend opening out into annular second cavity fonncd by a cup on the crankshaft web, said second cavity being made leakproof, such that when the oil from the pump gets filled in the first cavity, the oil is prced under pressure to pass through the passage in the crankshaft and reach the second cavity, whereafter the oil enters into a hole provided in the crank pjin and subsequently moves further through a small annular hole into the connecting rod bearing.
2. A lubrication system for an engine substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying

Technical field:
This invention relates to "Lubrication system for an engine" and more particularly to an engine provided with continuous variable transmission for a scooter type motorcycle. i

Background: j
; I
In conventional lubrication system cjf an engine having a continuous variable
transmission in scooter type motorcycle, the lubrication oil from the oil pump is
i
branched into two passages. One cf»f thej passage goes to the cylinder head for providing lubrication to camshaft and gearings and another passage goes to crank shaft bearing & connecting rod crankpin bearing for lubrication. The lubricating oil passes through a passage provided in crankcase, into a slot made in the steel insert surrounding the (bearing fitted on crankshaft. The oil comes out of the slot and drops into s|n oil-retaining cup located on the crankshaft web. When oil comes oujt of sjot it looses its pressure and velocity. The loss in pressure and velocity of thje lubricating oil does not force the lubricating oil to reach the bearings bf thej connecting rod. Further the same oil spray is directed towards piston :pin,'piston and cylinder bore area for lubricating the parts. This will cause inadequate lubrication for smooth functioning of bearing components at low engine speeds causing failure of parts over a period of time. Hence there is a need to improve the lubrication of the big end bearing.
In the proposed lubrication system of an engine having a continuous variable

transmission in scooter type motorcycle, the lubrication oil from the oil pump is

branched jhto two passages. One of th|e passage goes to the cylinder head to

for providing lubrication to camshaft and bearings and another passage goes

to crank shaft bearing.& connecting rod ciudgeon pin bearing for lubrication..

The lubricating oil passes through a :assage holejprovided in crankcase^ normal to crankshaft axis into a cavity A formed between a two side sealed bearing fitted on the crankshaft and thej oil seal provided in the crankcase on the crankshaft axis placed opposite to two side sealed bearing/pfie"cavlty A along the direction of crankshaft is formed by maintaining suitable gap between oil seal and two side sealed bearing of the said crankshaft.
