Abstract: The present invention relates to flexible lumbar support plate arrangement, along with a spring steel metal plate located in lumbar support region of a Seat Back, connected to the Knob Assembly which moves in singular direction for mechanical adjustment of Lumbar support plate, through a cable assembly. The half rotation in clockwise direction of Knob can provide different adjustment position of Lumbar support plate or different curved shape of Seat Back. The next half rotation of Lumbar Knob helps to gain the original design position of Lumbar support plate. However the main aim of this invention is to provide more comfort and safety advantage to the occupants. However, it is difficult to standardize the location of lumbar support plate for all the occupants due to individual size differentials and spinal variations of the occupants.
Complete Specifications:
This present innovation relates to adjustable Lumbar Support of Seat Back, at low cost with ease of different adjustment positions to provide effective support to the backbone of occupant, especially in the lumbar region.
The present invention promotes comfort for occupant and reduced backache while sitting specially for long drive run by providing different gradually curved cushioned back support in the lumbar area through an internal manual mechanically device. The Lumbar support plate provides stationary ride comfort while driving on winding roads by absorbing vibration characteristics and holding capability of the occupant. The lumbar support of Seat Back also provide convincing sitting to small or large persons by adjusting the curved area of Seat Back as per their convenience by adjusting the lumbar mechanism.
The present innovation also shows importance of sitting for the safety of occupant while Frontal & Rear Impact. The distance between Seat Back & Occupant is advised to keep as low as possible to protect occupant from cervical spine injuries. Normally, the smallest distance between the occupant and Occupant's Head & Shoulder area is primarily designed for occupant safety while Rear Impact but the smallest gap between, Seat back and Occupant Back will provide extra advantage to protect occupant from serious injuries of cervical spine such as spondyloses, various disc illness or scoliosis caused due to driving for a long time in the bad pose.
Objectives of the Invention
The main objective of the present invention is to provide comfort & safety advantage to the occupants especially to the drivers during their long run drives by providing comfort to lumbar, on winding roads to absorb vibrations and during high speed drive to protect occupant from serious spinal injuries.
To achieve the above objective, present invention provides a Seat Back Assembly, which has an inbuilt Lumbar support system securely fixed with the Back Frame of Seat Back Assembly. The Lumbar support plate of system provides a smooth and curved surface below the occupant's spinal as per his requirement and comfort. This plate is linked with a cable assembly, which operate in vertical direction and provides pulling force to help Lumbar support plate to gain the required shape. On another hand this cable assembly is fixed with the Knob operating system which rotates in a single direction and provides different locking positions to cable. When cable is relieve then Spring Steel plate behind the Lumbar support plate helps Lumbar support plate to gain its original shape.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring now to the drawings, there is depicted a lumbar supiport system embodying the concept of the present invention.
Figure 1, 1A, 2 and 2A are showing the schematic diagram of lumbar support system assembly, where 1 is lumbar support plate, 2 is spring steel plate , 3 is upper connecting wire, 4 is lower connecting wire, 5 is cable assembly and 6 is knob operating mechanism.
Spring steel plate 2 is attached with lumbar support plate 1 in center groove shown in figure 1 and 2, which provide the extra flexibility to the lumbar support plate 1, this spring steel plate 2 help to lumbar support plate 1 to come back in its initial position after releasing the tensile stress in second 180 degree knob 7 rotation cycle, shown in figure 1, 2 and 2A.
Lumbar support system is installed in seat back frame with the help of upper connecting wire 3 and lower connecting wire 4 which we can see in figure 1 and figure la of drawing, these connecting wires could be flexible or rigid, it's depend on back support comfort level. Upper connecting wire 3 and lower connecting wire 4 is attached with lumbar support plate 1 and with the seat back frame, shown in figure 1,2 and 2a.
Cable assembly 5 is using to operate the lumbar support plate 1 and provide the curve shape to occupant on his requirement. This cable assembly 5 is operated by the Knob operating mechanism 6; cable assembly 5 is attached with Lumbar support system 1 and knob operating mechanism 6, shown in figure 1,1A, 2, and 2A.
Figure 3 is showing complete assembly view of Knob operating mechanism and 4 is showing exploded view of Knob operating mechanism assembly and 4a is showing exploded sectional view of Knob operating mechanism assembly, where's 7 is Knob, 8 is lock spring, 9 is cam hub, 10 is cam shaft and 11 is holder.
In knob operating mechanism 6 we are using circular knob system 6 instead of lever type knob system, to reduce the weight and cost of mechanism, we are using one directional knob operating mechanism system 6. When we rotate Knob 7, 180 degree from its initial position in this cycle, it will pull the cable assembly 5 and bends to the support plate 1 and make curve shape for supporting the occupant's lumbar area. After this 180 degree rotation
of knob 7, again we rotate knob 180 degree in same direction in this cycle, it will come back in its initial (original) position by releasing the tensile stress of wire of cable assembly 5.
One end of wire of Cable assembly 5 is fixed at lower side of the lumbar support plate 1 and other end is attached in knob operating mechanism 6 with cam shaft 10 shown in figure 1, 2 and 2a.
In Knob operating mechanism 6 assembly, cam shaft 10, is attached with the cam hub 9, knob 1, and holder 11 and it is locked by the lock spring 8, and allow the one directional rotation by the cam hub 9, This cam shaft 10 holds the wire of cable assembly 5 and its rotate with the knob 7 rotation. Cam hub 9 provides the locking to cam shaft 10 while it's rotate with, knob 7. Holder 11 is attached with cam shaft 10 and cam hub 9, this holder 11 hold the cam shaft 10 and cam hub 9 mechanisms. Knob 7 is attached with cam shaft 10 and lock spring 8, this help to rotate the mechanism easily with less effort and provide the proper grip to occupant's fingers with comfort.
We claim:
1. An adjustable Seat Back Assembly which can adjust curved surface of Seat Back Assembly as per the convenience and comfort of the occupant.
2. A Lumbar support mechanism which can fit easily on any type of Back Frame and can provide sufficient supporting area to occupant's spinal for comfort and safety advantages.
3. A Lumbar support plate made by plastic provide curved surface along with a Spring steel metal plate which provide pull and push advantages on less applied force.
4. A Knob Mechanism, which rotates in a single direction, consist different angular positions to stop like a rotary switch of Fan and can provide a range of wire length pull so that lumbar support plate provide a wide range of curved shapes to the occupant.
