More than 50,000 tonnes of plastic waste are generated in India everyday of which 6,000 tonnes remain uncollected. Majority of the waste being those from household. The problem of domestic waste is going on increasing attention of the people as huge garbage is lying down uncollected beside the roads, streets and on the ground which causing threat to the environment as well as endangering public health. This waste is generated as consequences of household activities such as cooking, repairing empty containers, and packaging, huge use of plastic carry bags. There is no system of segregation of organic inorganic and recyclable waste at the household level. Door-to-door collection is rarely practiced community collection bins are poorly managed and are usually no more than open dumps on the roadside. The improper handling and management of Domestic Waste from household are causing adverse effect on the public at large and this deteriorates the environment. The municipal workers are most affected people by the occupational danger (hazard) of waste handling; they suffer from illness like eye problems respiratory problems, gastro and skin problems. The persons who wander for collecting the discarded things for selling purpose through wastes also suffer from various health problems from inhaling particles, infection from direct contact with contaminated materials which lead to headache, diarrhoea, fever and cough and cold. Uncollected waste is scattered everywhere and reaches to the water bodies through run-off as well as it percolate to groundwater. The toxics contained in the waste, contaminates water. It also makes the soil infertile and decrease the agricultural productivity.
Indoor Segregation of plastic waste is the only solution to avoid the spread of plastic waste to the environment. We have one product, a smart and compact machine which seems like a washing machine in size and shape which we can accommodate in the kitchen area. This machine can separate all plastic and rubber items from the household garbage. The separated plastic waste will be sliced into small pieces and collected properly in a thin bag. When the bag is full, the bag is automatically sealed by the machine. The sealed bag is ejected for proper disposal. Each machine has a unique serial number which will be printed on the sealed bag. If the bags are not disposed properly, we can find out the whereabouts of the source of the garbage with the help of the serial number printed on it. Thus, the concerned authority can take action like imposing fines or other legal action. Organic waste like food, vegetables, fruits etc liquified and disposed to the earth.
We have a provision to interlock the main electric supply of the house with the machine. If the machine is kept idle for more than two days the main electrical supply to the house will be cut off. So the machine has to be utilised for avoiding blackout. We can make the machine at an economic price.
