Bibba Seed Decortication:
Introduction : in Maharashtra though Valuable Bibba (Semecarpus An.acardium ) is not found, but still Maharashtra produces 1600 Tones Bibba's nut Called "Godambi per year and whereas Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa together produces about 700'tonnes per Year
Because of Irregular and unsymmetrical shape of the seed, it is not so easy to decorate.
Current Procedure used by People :
Process 1.
As the seed is about 2 cm in diameter and is normally beaten with a stone like hammer to break the outer shell. The nut inside has to be removed by hand and a significant proportion of nuts get broken in this process thus reducing the value of output.
Disadvantage of this Process
As the pericarp contains a biack oily bitter juice known as Bhilawan Shell Liquid (BSL) (which is highly useful in Industrial Application), when beaten by stone this oil splashes on hand and face causes injury on the body.
Process 2.
A major intervention was made by the Dept. of Agriculture Process Engg. Of Marathwada Agricultural University by Dr. Moore and his team developed a tool "MAU Dehuller" with an efficiency of 75% and with a capacity of 6.5 Kg per day. But the Women workers seem to have a preference for their Stone Devices.

Introduction: In Maharashtra though Valuable Bibba ( Semecarpus Anacardium ) is not found but still Maharashtra produces 1600 Tones Bibba's nut Called "Godambi" per year and whereas Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa together produces about 700 tons per Year.
So, til! today there is no proper machine is developed in this sector as far as quantity, quality and easy use point of view. So Mr. Pralahad G. Ingale invents a New Design Mechanical machine by which all these points can be overcome
Design Details:
This Bibba Seed Decortications machine is completely hand made machine. The size of this Machine is 2*2 Feet and Height is also 2 feet. So this machine is so portable with an weight of nearly 32Kg. The size of this machine can be increased up to 100 Feet as per requirement of Production. In this machine the various parts used like Full Baring, 1/2 HP Motor, High Carbon Steel Blade, Hand Crank Connecting and other spares.
Currently, the machine designed is operated with two pistons. So the output is on the two ways. By increasing the Pistons on the machine the production can be increased. Currently, poor women produced nearly 5-6 Kg Gadambee per day. But by using the machine (2 Piston) we can produced high quality nearly 10 Kg per hour (SO Kg per day).
This machine can be operated on Solar (50 W Plate/l2V 700 Amp Battery, 64W motor) or Electric (AC Motor Yi HP) or Air Cooled Oil Petrol Engine or Gas Engine (25CC Luna Engine) or can be operated with Handle. The consumption of this machine if operated on Petrol is nearly 1/2Lt petrol/hr and if operated on gas then lkg/4Hr,
As the byproduct of Biba is black oily bitter juice known as Bhilowon Shell Liquid (BSL) (which is highly useful in Industrial Application), when beaten by stone this oil splashes on hand and face causes injury on the body. This disadvantage is also overcome using this machine as it is separately collected. This machine is so easy to use and can be operated by single man. If machine is not properly working Auto Trip facility is also provided.
So, all the point of view this machine is developed. And also further improvement is in process for which research and development funds for products & process development is requested for Biba Cluster development.
Botanical Name : Semeearpu.s anacardium
Family Name:Anacardiaceae
vernacular Name: Sans- Bhallaiaka. Hind- Bhela, It was called "marking mils" by Europeans
because it was used by washermen to mark lhe cloths before washing, as it imparled water

Machine on Producing Marking Nut / Bhallatak / Biba Semecarpus Anacardium
( 1) Biba/Marking Nut, Semecarpus Anacardium also known as
Bhallatak (India) is a medium-sized nut bearing tree, indigenous to India closely related to the cashew. The name Marking Nut was used by European laundrymen to mark fabric and garmenting prior lo washing, as it imparted a water tnsolvable mark to the cloth. Semecarpus Anacardium is a member of the family Anacardiaceae the genus Semecarpus.
(2) Semecarpus Anacardium is a deciduous tree that grows
throughout India is hot weather and in the Himalayas to an elevation of up to 1000 meters. The tree reached a height of 10-15 metres. Leaves are 30-60 cm long and 12-30 cm broad. They are smooth above and pubescent below. The flowers are small, dioecious, dull greenish white born in pubescent panicles.
( 3) Fruits of the Marking Nut are 2-3 cm in diameter, sideways
ovoid or oblong drupes, black when mature, seated on a fleshy receptacle which is yellow when ripe. Nuts are about 2.5 cm long, ovate and smooth shiny black and toxic in nature. The fruits, their oil and the.seeds have great medicinal value, and are applied to treat a wide range of diseases.
(4) Making Nut fruit is highly regarded, in Ayurvedirand Siddha medicine, for'longevity and rejuvenation
but it must be first processed before use as it is toxic Recent studies have also demonstrated the fruit to be a strong anti-inflammatory agent and useful in various types of cancers.
(5) Tree propagation is by seed. Semecarpus anacardium is a highly medicinal plant and while it is not
cultivated as a food crop, it is highly valued for its medicinal properties especially for the treatment of tumors and malignant growths, in traditional medicine.
