Abstract: The present subject matter relates to machine tool (100) having a spindle (102) and a tool changer (104). The machine tool (100) includes a first 5 tank (112) to store a liquid coolant, a first pump (116) connected to the first tank (112), and a jet assembly (124) connected to the first pump (116) and disposed in proximity to the spindle (102). In the machine tool (100), when a changeover of a tool (108) from the tool changer (104) is determined, the first pump (116) channelizes the pressurized liquid coolant to the jet 10 assembly (124). The jet assembly (124) sprays the pressurized liquid coolant onto the tool (108) to be detachably attached to the spindle (102)
1. A machine tool (100) having a spindle (102) and a tool changer (104),
the machine tool (100) comprising:
5 a first tank (112) to store a liquid coolant, wherein the first tank (112)
comprises a filter unit (122), disposed at an inlet of the first tank (112), to
filter contaminants from the liquid coolant received via the inlet;
a first pump (116) connected to an outlet of the first tank (112);
a jet assembly (124) connected to the first pump (116) and disposed
10 in proximity to the spindle (102); and
a controller (110) connected to the first pump (116) and the tool
changer (104), wherein the controller (110) is to determine a changeover of a tool
(108) from the tool changer (104), and
15 wherein the first pump (116) is to:
pressurize the filtered liquid coolant received from the first tank
(112) based on the determination of the changeover; and
channelize the pressurized liquid coolant to the jet assembly
(124) to spray the pressurized liquid coolant onto the tool (108) to be
20 detachably attached to the spindle (102). 2. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the machine tool
(100) comprises:
a second tank (114) to store the liquid coolant to be supplied to a
25 machine centre (106) of the machine tool (100) for cooling thereof,
wherein the first tank (112) is connected to the second tank (114) to
receive the liquid coolant from the second tank (114); anda valve (120) disposed between the first tank (112) and the second
tank (114), wherein the filter unit (122) is disposed between the valve
(120) and the first tank (112) to filter the contaminants from the liquid
coolant received from the second tank (114).3. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 2,
wherein the first tank (112) comprises a sensor (126), coupled to the
controller (110), to detect a level of the liquid coolant in the first tank (112),
wherein, based on the detection by the sensor (126) that the level of
10 the liquid coolant is less than a predetermined level, the controller (110) is
to activate the valve (120) for filling the first tank (112) with the liquid
coolant from the second tank (114) until the level of the liquid coolant in
the first tank (112) reaches the predetermined level.4. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the valve
(120) is a solenoid valve.
5. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 1 or 2, wherein the filter unit
(122) is a cyclone filter. 6. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein the sensor (126)
is a proximity sensor. 7. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the jet assembly
25 (124) comprises:
a mounting block (402) to mount the jet assembly (124) in proximity
to the spindle (102);an inlet manifold (404), connected to the mounting block (402), to
receive the pressurized liquid coolant from the first pump (116);
a spacer manifold (406) connected to the inlet manifold (404); and
a distribution manifold (408) connected to the spacer manifold (406),
5 wherein the spacer manifold (406) is to supply the pressurized liquid
coolant from the inlet manifold (404) to the distribution manifold (408),
wherein the distribution manifold (408) is to distribute the pressurized
liquid coolant onto the tool (108).8. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the distribution
manifold (408) comprises at least one supply channel (410-1, 410-2)
disposed below the spindle (102) to supply the pressurized liquid coolant
to the tool (108) to be detachably attached to the spindle (102), wherein
the at least one supply channel (410-1, 410-2) comprises a plurality of
15 nozzles (412) such that each nozzle (412) is facing a surface (302) of the
tool (108) disposed below the spindle (102) before attaching to the spindle
(102). 9. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the distribution
20 manifold (408) comprises two supply channels (410-1, 410-2), disposed
below the spindle (102), to supply the pressurized liquid coolant to the tool
(108) to be detachably attached to the spindle (102), wherein each supply
channel (410-1, 410-2) comprises a plurality of nozzles (412) such that the
nozzles (412) of each supply channel (410-1, 410-2) are facing each
25 other.
10. The machine tool (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the distribution
manifold (408) comprises an auxiliary supply channel (414) having at least
one auxiliary nozzle (416), wherein a longitudinal axis of the at least one auxiliary nozzle (416) is transverse to a longitudinal axis of each of the
plurality of nozzles (412).
