Specification

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a scooter type vehicle and more particularly to the alignment of main stand tube with the power unit toggle link joint wherein such alignment allows the restricted movements of said main stand and said toggle link.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Generally, main stand of a scooter type vehicle is attached to the extended mounting bosses on the bottom part of the crankcase and the toggle link is generally mounted by two ways i.e. toggle link can be mounted on the top part of the crank case by the means of extended mounting bosses or it can be mounted on the bottom part with the help of extended mounting bosses at the bottom part. Thus two or more mountings bosses were required resulting which the arrangement comes out to be bulky and complex.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a scooter type vehicle having a frame, a power unit case, a toggle link, a main stand unit. The frame has two frame members running parallel to each other and spaced in transverse direction of the vehicle and said power unit case is enclosing a power unit and the power unit case is made up of an upper part and a lower part. Said lower part further has two extended mounting bosses spaced from each other in transverse direction of the vehicle. The power unit is placed between the parallel members of the frame. Mentioned toggle link has one toggle link upper tube and one toggle link lower tube spaced from each other in the direction of the vehicle and connected through a bridge structure. Said toggle link upper tube is secured with the parallel frame members through bracket structures and the toggle link lower tube is secured with the extended mounting bosses of the power unit case. The main stand unit has two main stand tubes spaced in transverse direction of the vehicle and secured with the extended mounting bosses of the power unit case. Said extended mounting bosses are secured between the toggle link lower tube structure and the main stand tube structures in the same horizontal axis.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are incorporated in and constitute embodiments of the invention, illustrate several aspects of the invention and together with a description of the embodiments serve to explain the principles of the invention and thus, are not limited of the present invention and a brief description of the drawings is as follows:

Figure 1 is the side view of the scooter type vehicle showing the mounting arrangement of the main stand and the toggle link on the bottom portion of the crankcase.

Figure 2 is the bottom view of the rear portion of the scooter type vehicle, depicting the mounting arrangement of the toggle link and the main stand over the frame and the bottom part of crankcase.

Figure 3 is the exploded view describing the arrangement as per an embodiment of the invention.

Figure 4 is the assembled view describing the arrangement as per an embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The embodiments disclosed below are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed in the following detailed description. Rather, the embodiments are chosen and described so that others skilled in the art may utilize their teachings. The invention may have application to all types of two wheeled vehicles.

Referring to figure 1, side view of the scooter type vehicle is shown in order to explain the mounting arrangement of the main stand (109) and the toggle link on the bottom portion of the crankcase (116). The power unit/ crankcase (116) is mounted between the frame tubes (114,117) of the frame/ frame tubes (114,117) and connected to the rear portion of the vehicle through crankcase (116) and more particularly through the transmission system secured in the crankcase (116). The crankcase (116) has mounting bosses (108) for the main stand (109). One toggle link (100) is connected to the frame tubes (114, 117) and that is the only place where the power unit/ crankcase (116) are directly connected to the frame/ frame tubes (114,117) of the vehicle. The toggle link (100) is connected to the frame tubes (114, 117) through upper toggle link tube (106) and the lower toggle link tube 107 is connected to the crankcase (116) through the mounting bosses (108). Upper toggle link tube (106) and the lower toggle link tube 107 are connected to each other through a toggle link bridge (105). This arrangement of toggle link (100) and the main stand (109) over the crankcase (116) keeps the upper portion of the main stand (109) and the lower toggle link tube (107) in one horizontal axis which is passing through the mounting bosses (108) on the crankcase (116). Further this arrangement allows the restricted pivot movement of the main stand (109) and the toggle link (100) around the horizontal axis A.

Further, figure 2 is the bottom view of the rear portion of the vehicle, depicting the mounting arrangement of the toggle link 100 and the main stand (109) over the crankcase (116) wherein in the mounting bosses (108), lower toggle link tube (107) and the main stand (109) are on the same horizontal axis A and connected through an axle rod (118). The upper toggle link tube (106) is connected to the frame tubes (114, 117) through the brackets (119,120). The upper toggle link tube (106) is further joined with the lower toggle link tube (107) through the toggle link bridge (105). The lower toggle link tube (107) is connected to the mounting bosses (108) of the crankcase (116) wherein the mounting bosses (108) are also connected with the upper part of the main stand (109). Main stand (109), lower toggle link tube (107) and the mounting bosses (108) are secured in a way that mounting bosses (108) are placed between the main stand (109) and the lower toggle link tube (107) on left and right of the scooter type vehicle.

Referring to figure 3 exploded view of the arrangement of the toggle link (100), spacers (121) and the main stand (109) is shown with respect to the mounting bosses 108 (not shown in figure 3). Upper part of the main stand is mounted with the stand holders (122), which are further attached with connecting bushes (123) having a opening with a pre specified diameter. Spacers (121) are secured inside the connecting bushes (123) in order to maintain specific space between stand holders (122) and connecting axle (118) and between stand holders (122) and mounting bosses (108).

Figure 4 is presenting assembled view of the toggle link (100), main stand (109) and mounting bosses (108). Stand holder (122) is fixed with connecting bushes (123) and spacers (121) is joined with the lower toggle link tube (107) through a straight axle rod (118) such that the lower toggle link tube (107), stand holder (122), connecting bushes (123) and the axle rod (118) lies on a horizontal axis A. The mounting bosses (108) of the crankcase (116) are secured between the lower toggle link tube (107) and the stand holders (122) of the main stand (109) such that said mounting bosses falls on the horizontal axis A.

While the invention has been described with reference to an exemplary embodiment, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof without departing from the scope of the invention. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation or material to the teachings of the invention without departing from the essential scope thereof.

Further, the manner of assembling the embodiments described are not necessarily to be performed only in the sequence illustrated or each step only at the time indicated. Therefore, it is intended that the invention not be limited to the particular embodiment disclosed as the best mode contemplated for carrying out this invention, but that the invention will include all embodiments falling within the scope of the appended claims.
