Manhole Cleaning Robotic System (Mcrs)

Abstract: Aimed at tackling the disadvantages of conventional manhole a new manhole cleaning robot system is designed for performing cleaning work instead of manual cleaning that is characteristic of low safety, low efficiency, long time and environmental pollution problems. Cleaning operations the robot system consists of robot, suction pump, hydraulic pump station, remote control center, windlass and so on, biodegradable bags. The modular structures have been adopted in the robot, which makes it possible to assemble all subsystems in a single unit [1]. This robotic system can reduce the complex mechanism for cleaning the manholes and even provide environmental friendly way of disposing the sludge or waste.

INTRODUCTION

The simple mechanism of this robotic system is to clean the sludge from manholes. The need of this system is quite high in developing countries and even in most of the developed countries. This system will not only provide comfort for the people who are associated with this cleaning work but will also be eco-friendly way of these biodegradable wastes. This will minimize the human interference in the cleaning work and make it more safer and easier way of cleaning the sludge. It is related to oil tank cleaning robot [1] but it differs in cleaning mechanism though many components in it are same as mentioned above. We have tried to use more and more eco-friendly technology in this system which will make it better.

System working

In this section, we will review the working of manhole cleaning robot. An important problem associated with cleaning these manhole is the size of the manhole, the size of these manholes are extremely small which makes it extremely difficult for people to go in and clean it with ease. The other problem is people cleaning these manhole come to direct or indirect contact with the dangerous virus present in the sludge present in manhole, which leads to the requirement of the system which these mentioned problem and many other problems associated with it.

This machine works on basic suction technique using either vacuum pumps [2] or suction pumps, these suction pump which will work on advanced lithium-ion solid polymer electrolyte batteries[3], these high power batteries can be used for space and portable electronics applications[3],these rechargeable batteries will reduce the power consumption using other power source. When the power is supplied to these vacuum pumps, they start sucking the sludge from these manholes.

The another problem associated with this process is decomposition of these sludge, in many places these sludge are either being thrown in rivers polluting the water body or thrown in open ground producing further problems. This problem can also be overcome by using this robotic system. In this system we use bio-degradable bag in which these sludge are being stored and disposed [4]. The sludge which is being sucked by these vacuum or suction pumps will be fed into these biodegradable bags up to certain limit after which these bags are being sealed and led out. These bags are kept in the form rolls, as soon as one bag is filled and led out the probe present in the robot pulls out another bag and same procedure repeats till the work is executed. When whole process is finished these bags are taken to the area which is allotted for the decomposition of these bags. This process will thus rectify the above mentioned problems.

CLAIMS

1. IT CAN BE MADE FULLY AUTOMATIC i.e. HUIMANB INTERFACE IS
NOT REQUIRED.

2. MOBILE CONTROL HUBS CAN BE ESTABLISHED O CO-ORDINATE THE WORKING OF THE ROBOTIC SYSTEM.

3. SENSORY NETWORKS CAN BE DEFLOYED WITHIN THE ROBOTIC SYSTEM AND MANHOLES.

4. SPECIAL TYPE OF OUTLET FOR CHEMICAL CAN BE FIXED WHICH WILL DISINTEGRATE LARGER COMPONENTS INSIDE MANHOLES AND LET IT OUT.

5. SMALL WIRELESS CAMERA CAN BE FIXED WHICH WILL GIVE PROPER PROCESS UNDERGOING IN THE MANHOLES.

6. CONVENTIONAL POWER SOURCE CAN BE REPLACED BY THE MORE ECO-FRIENDLY SOURCES SUCH AS SOLAR CELLS, etc.

7. AUTOMATIC SEGREGATION OF SLUDGE CAN BE MADE i.e. BIODEGRADABLE WASTE CAN BE SEPERATED FORM NON DEGRADABLE WASTES.

8. AUTOBIODEGRADATION PROCESS CAN BE DEPLOYED IN THE ADVANCED VERSIONS.

9. MANHOLE WEAR-OUT INDICATORS CAN BE FIXED WHICH WILL MAKE SURE THAT THE WORKING CONDITION OF THE MANHOLES IS PROPER.
