Manufacturing Vehicle Components

Abstract: Systems and methods for manufacturing vehicle accessories are described herein. In an example, an input feed of scrap material (110) having calendered rubber (110-1) may be received, for instance, at a cassette unit (130). A layer of liner (225) may be provided on a layer of the scrap material (110) to prevent layers of the scrap material (110) from sticking together. Further, the scrap material (110) may be calendered with another scrap material, such as rubber compound (110-2) to provide a calendered sheet. The calendered sheet may be processed further to prepare a vehicle component, such as a splash guard.

a cassette unit (130) to,
receive an input feed of scrap material (110), the scrap material (110); and
provide a layer of liner (225) on a layer of the scrap material (110) to prevent layers of the scrap material (110) from sticking together; and
a scrap processing unit (135) to,
calender the scrap material (110) having reinforced rubber (110-1) with another scrap material to provide a calendered sheet; and
process the calendered sheet to prepare a vehicle component (120).
2. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the input feed of the scrap material (110) comprises one of reinforced rubber (110-1) and rubber compound (110-2).
3. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cassette unit (130) further comprises:
a table to couple to the scrap processing unit (135);
a conveyor belt (210) coupled to the table (205) to receive the input feed of the scrap material (110);
a liner roller (215) having the liner (225) wound thereon, the liner (225) to be provided on the scrap material (110); and
a collection roller (220) to collect to the scrap material (110) having the layer liner thereon.
4. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cassette unit (130) is movable to collect the scrap material (110) from one or more work stations in a tyre manufacturing unit (115).
5. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the scrap processing unit (135) is to remove the layer of liner (225) for splicing the scrap material (110) having the reinforced rubber (110-1) to provide a reinforced strip, wherein the reinforced strip is calendered to provide the calendered sheet.
6. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the scrap processing unit (135) is to,
cut the calendered sheet, based on dimensions of the vehicle component (120) to be manufactured; and
cure the cut calendered sheet to provide the vehicle component (120).
7. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the another scrap material comprises rubber compound (110-2) and the reinforced rubber (110-1) comprises one of scrap rubberized fabric and scrap rubberized steel.
8. The vehicle component manufacturing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the liner (225) comprises a non-sticky material.
9. A method of preparing a vehicle component (120):
receiving an input feed of scrap material (110), the scrap material (110) comprising calendered rubber (110-1);
providing a layer of liner (225) on a layer of the scrap material (110) to prevent layers of the scrap material (110) from sticking together;
calendaring scrap material (110) with another scrap material to provide a calendered sheet, the another scrap material comprising rubber compound (110-2); and
processing the calendered sheet to prepare the vehicle component (120).
10. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the method further comprises,
receiving an input feed of the rubber compound (110-2); and
providing a layer of liner (225) on a layer of the rubber compound (110-2), wherein the rubber compound (110-2) is calendered with the reinforced rubber (110-1) to form the calendered sheet.
11. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the liner (225) comprises a non-sticky material and the reinforced rubber (110-1) comprises one of scrap rubberized fabric and scrap rubberized steel.
12. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the method further comprises removing the layer of liner (225) for splicing the scrap material (110) to provide a reinforced strip, wherein the reinforced strip is calendered to provide the calendered sheet.
13. The method as claimed in claim 9, wherein the processing further comprises curing the calendered sheets, based on the vehicle component (120) to be manufactured.
14. A cassette unit (130) for collecting scrap material (110) comprising,
