Abstract: A material charging device (10) includes reserving hoppers (30) provided at a furnace top of a blast furnace (1); upper shutoff valves (61) each of which is configured to independently close an outlet of a corresponding one of the reserving hoppers (30); a collecting chute (40) connected to the outlet of each of the reserving hoppers (30); a lower shutoff valve (62) configured to close an outlet of the collecting chute (40); and measurement equipment (42) configured to measure a material stored in the collecting chute (40).
