Measurement Of The Linear Distances And Horizontal Angle By Single Instrument Set Up.

Abstract: A system of this instrument comprises of pair of ranging rods connected to each other at the bottom with the help of the metallic tape and thread so that when one ranging rod is taken away from the another rod it gives linear distance between two points directly with the help of metallic tape and keeping one ranging rod in steady position and moving another rod will give change in angle which can be measured on measuring circle, with help of protractor and vernier scale and hence we can get the linear as well as angular measurement in a single setup.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION :
The invention leads to the field of surveying. This invention is mainly to minimize the number of the equipments require for the surveying work and to make the surveying work more faster. Combining a number of instruments to form a new instrument which will perform the task with more accuracy in less time with less workers. This instrument relates to the measurement of the linear and angular measurement at the same time which can be operated by non technical person.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION :
Surveying is one of the very important aspect of the civil engineering. Proper knowledge of this subject is very important to carry out any surveying project. While plotting a traverse ranging rods are require for ranging, tape is used for linear measurements and theodolite is
4
used for angular measurements. It becomes somehow tedious to arrange all these instruments. So we are going to create a new instrument to overcome these problems and to faster the surveying work during reconnaissance and preliminary survey.
PRIOR ART:
According to prior art it is observed that instruments which are used for surveying are not so user-friendly and are clumsy to operate and consume more time for surveying purpose and it needs special coaching to use that instrument and it is somewhat time consuming.
It is observed that there is a need for development of such instrument which can perform more than one task in a single setup faster and accurate and which can be operated by person who don't have any knowledge about survey.
OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION :
Objective of the invention is to perform the linear and angular measurement from one time set up.
Another objective is to reduce number of accessories for linear and angular measurements.
Yet another objective of this invention is to make the instrument as economical as possible.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION :
This invention consist of a two ranging rod connected to each other at the bottom portion with the help of metallic tape. Above that 360 degree protractor and vernierscale is provided to measure the horizontal angle between any two points to an accuracy of 20 seconds.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
In the figure no. 1 number indicates,
Reference numeral 1, relates to Ranging rod 1.
Reference numeral 2, relates to ranging rod 2.
Reference numeral 3, relates to protractor (360 degrees) and vernier scale.
Reference numeral 4, relates to adjustable Measuring Tape.
Reference numeral 5, relates to position of thread used to measure the angle.
Reference numeral 6, relates to measured angle shown by thread which is connected
between rod 1 and 2.
Reference numeral 7, relates to final position of ranging rod after measuring angle and
linear distance.
TERMINOLOGY:
Ranging Rod 1: It is a metallic or wooden rod used for ranging a straight line or marking stations for measuring angle having arrangement for tape and angle measuring circle/ protractor with vernier scale.
Ranging Rod 2: Hook is provided to rod so that tape from rod 1 can be attached to rod 2 and by separation of these rods, tape will get unwounded and distance will get measured by tape itself.
Measuring Tape: It is a metallic tape with the numbers marked on it at a certain intervals of meters or feet for measuring the horizontal distance on the ground.
Measuring Circle and vernier scale :It is a metallic circle on which the degrees are marked for measuring a horizontal angle upto the accuracy of 20 seconds.

DESCRIPTION:
The invention will be described here in accordance with the figure (1) which shows how the instrument actually works.
First of all the ranging rod (l)which is having arrangement for tape and protractor is placed at the desired station. Ranging rod (2)which is having hook so that rod 1 can be attache to rod (2) and by separation of these rods tape, will get unwounded and distance will get measured by tape is taken to another location. The distance between these two stations can directly measured on the measuring tape. When ranging rod(2) moved from one station to another station we get the angle between these two station on a measuring circle and can be accurately indicated by thread (between rod 1 and 2 ) by provision of vernier scale.
In this way the linear and angular measurements can be taken at the same time with the single instrument only. The speed of the surveying work can be increased with use of only single instrument.

CLAIMS :
We claim,
1. The said system which, set up for the simultaneous linear and angular measurements,
said system comprising:
When ranging rod (2) is moved away from the ranging rod (1) the tape is also pulled out with the ranging rod as the one end of the tape is connected to rod (2). When that rod is moved to another station keeping the position of the rod 1 constant we get some angle on measuring circle.
2. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, it is claim for the incorporation of angular scale use to measure of horizontal angle.
3. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, it is claim for the incorporation of linear scale for the measure of linear distances.
