Mechanism for Auto Resetting Of Stay Put Locking Feature of a DIN Clip for Mounting a Circuit Breaker on DIN Rail
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to DIN clips for mounting a circuit breaker, and more particularly, to a mechanism for auto resetting of stay put locking feature of a DIN clip for mounting a circuit breaker on a DIN rail.
Background of the invention
Circuit breaker needs to be mounted on a DIN rail for the purpose of any electrical installation and for this, the circuit breaker needs to be locked with the DIN rail firmly. To achieve proper mounting of the circuit breaker, some kind of positive locking of is required. Generally, the DIN clip or adaptor is used for locking and unlocking of the circuit breaker from the DIN rail. If it is a single pole circuit breaker, one can lock the circuit breaker to the DIN rail by pushing the DIN clip towards the DIN rail. Similarly, for unlocking the circuit breaker from the DIN rail, the DIN clip needs to be pulled.
Similar procedure is being followed for multipole circuit breaker which is time consuming and causes damages to the circuit breaker too while locking/unlocking with the DIN rail and it becomes extremely difficult for a individual to lock / unlock multipole device at a time.
Further, in stay put position, the DIN clips of the prior art needs to push in upward direction to lock the DIN clips firmly on the DIN rail.

AccorDINgly, there exists a need to provide a mechanism for locking the circuit breaker to the DIN rail which overcomes abovementioned drawbacks.
Object of the invention
An object of the present invention to lock single pole circuit breaker as well multipole breakers with the DIN rail easily without causing any damage to the circuit breaker.
Another object of the present invention is to provide locking of the circuit breaker to the DIN rail in less time and without using any tool.
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides a mechanism for auto resetting of stay put locking feature of a DIN clip for mounting a circuit breaker on a DIN rail. The circuit breaker includes a chamfer profile configured on housing thereof. The mechanism comprises a DIN clip having a projection adapted thereon, and a slot configured thereon for inserting a tool. Further, the mechanism comprises a DIN rail mounted on a surface on which the circuit breaker is to be mounted. Wherein when the tool is inserted into the slot of the DIN clip and the DIN clip is pulled up and pushed back, the DIN clip rests against a chamfer of the housing, which restricts the DIN clip to move back to locked condition, thereby keeping the DIN clip in meta stable position, and when the DIN clip is mounted on the DIN rail, the projection of DIN clip touches with the DIN rail mounting surface thereby getting reset.
Brief description of the drawings

Figure 1 shows a schematic drawing showing the unlocked condition of a DIN clip;
Figure 2 is a schematic drawing showing the locked condition of the DIN clip;:
Figure 3 shows a schematic drawing showing the stay-put condition of the DIN clip; and
Figure 4 shows another stay-put condition of the DIN clip, in accordance with the present invention.
Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides a mechanism by which number of single pole breaker as well multipole breakers can be locked with the DIN rail easily by a individual without causing any damage to the circuit breaker device that too in less time and without using any tool. By the mechanism, the intermediate position hold of the DIN clip can be lock/reset by itself without any efforts. Thus, an individual can easily carry out the maintenance work in stay put condition and relock the device. Also an individual can lock multi pole without any external help.

Referring figure 1 -4, there is shown a mechanism [100] for auto resetting of stay put locking feature of a DIN clip (10) for mounting a circuit breaker on a DIN rail (20). The circuit breaker includes chamfer profile (32) configured on housing (30) thereof. The mechanism (100) comprises the DIN clip having a projection (12) adapted thereon, and a slot (not shown) configured thereon for inserting a tool. Further, the mechanism (100) comprises the DIN rail (20) mounted on a surface (40) on which the circuit breaker is to be mounted.
Referring now to figure 1, there is shown an unlocked condition of the DIN clip (10) when the spring (not shown) is compressed. The circuit breaker is not held on to a DIN rail (20) at this condition, since a locking edge of the DIN clip (10) stays back and the spring in the DIN clip (10) is compressed. To keep the circuit breaker at this unlocked state one needs to put a tool in the tool slot given in the clip and compress the spring. This is not a stable position of the DIN Clip.
Referring now to figure 2, there is shown a locked condition of the DIN clip (10), when the spring (not shown) is released. The circuit breaker is held on to the DIN rail (20) firmly at this condition, since the locking edge of the DIN clip (10) locks housing (30) of the circuit breaker (50) to the DIN rail (20) and the spring in the DIN clip is released. This is a stable position of the DIN Clip assembly.
Referring to figure 3, there is shown a stay-put condition of the DIN Clip (10) when the spring is charged and the DIN clip (10) is held in position by a chamfer (32). The circuit breaker is not held on to the DIN rail (20) firmly at this condition, since the locking edge of the DIN clip (10) is away from the DIN rail (20). The DIN clip (10) is tilted backward a little and the spring in the DIN

clip (10) is charged. This is a metastable condition of the DIN Clip (10). The DIN clip (10) gets reset while mounting by itself.
Referring now to figure 4, there is shown a mechanism (100) auto resetting of stay put locking feature of the DIN clip (10) for mounting a circuit breaker on a DIN rail (20). When the tool is inserted into slot of the DIN clip (10) and the DIN clip (10) is pulled up and pushed back where the DIN clip rests against the chamfer (32) of the housing (30), the chamfer (32) restricts the DIN clip (10) to move back to locked condition, thereby keeping the DIN clip in meta stable position. When the DIN clip (10) is mounted on the DIN rail (20), the projection (12) of the DIN clip touches with the surface (40) where the DIN rail (20) is mounted thereby getting reset.
Advantages of the invention
1. The mechanism (100) is quite easy to manufacture and less time consuming.
2. The mechanism (100) can be used in any kind of low voltage breaker for same purpose.
3. The mechanism (100) is purely safe for handling and is not harmful to the user.
4. The mechanism (100) is easy for the assembly and disassembly.
The foregoing object the invention is accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention described in the present embodiment Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein; however, it is to be understood that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be

interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure, or matter. The embodiments of the invention as described above and the methods disclosed herein will suggest further modification and alterations to those skilled in the art. Such further modifications and alterations may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
