Mechanism for Weld Build-Up Process Inside Shell of a Reactor
Field of the invention
The present invention provides a mechanism forweld build-up process inside a shell of a reactor, and, more particularly, to a mechanisrnforweld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactor.
Background of the invention
In any typical reactor, catalyst support rings (CSR) are used to support trays which hold all the catalystinside the reactor. During fabrication of the reactor, CSR is made of weld build up on shell inside diameter. For providing the requiredshape of the CSR, the weld build-up in the trapezoidal shape is required to be done.
However, the conventional process of the weld build-up inside shell of the reactor requires higher quantity of weld deposition for machining tolerances.Further, the conventional processtakes more time in machining of the same.
Accordingly, there exists a need to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art and reduce cycle time of the weld build-up process by reducing non value adding activities.
Objects of the invention
An object of the present invention is to provide mechanismfor weld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactorwhich providesfinal shape of CSR by depositing lesser weld material.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a mechanismfor weld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactorwhich requires less time for CSR welding and post welding arrangement by removing NVA.
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides amechanism for build-up of catalyst support rings inside the shell of the reactor, the mechanism comprising:
a support for holding weld material, the support selected from a fixed type of support and a floating type of support, wherein the weld material is used for weld build-up of catalyst support rings on inner circumference of the shell of the reactor; anda plurality of clips for fixing the support to inside of the shell of the reactor,
wherein during the weld buildup of the catalyst support rings on the inner circumference of shell of a reactor, atleast one nozzle provides the weld material on the inner circumference of the rotating shell thereby achieving final shape of the catalyst support rings by depositing less weld material.
Brief description of the drawings
Figure 1 illustrates a schematic drawing of a mechanism for weldbuildup of catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactor using fixed type of support, in accordance with the present invention; and
Figure 2 illustrates a schematic drawing of a mechanism of weld buildup of catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the.reactorusing floating type of support in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.
Detail description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides a mechanism forweld buildup of catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactorwhich provides final shape of CSR by depositing less weld material. Further, themechanism requiresless time for CSR machining to achieve final shape.
The present invention is illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings, throughout which reference numbers indicate corresponding parts in the figure. These reference numbers are shown in bracket in the following description.
Referring now to figure 1 and 2, there is shown a schematic drawing of mechanism (100, 200) for weld buildup of catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactor. Specifically, the mechanism (100, 200) includes a support (10, 110) for
holding a weld material and a plurality of clips (30, 130)for fixing the support inside the shell of the reactor. The support (10, 110) is at least one support selected from a fixed type of support (10) and a floating type of support (110).
Referring now to figure 1, which shows a schematic drawing of a mechanism (100) of weld buildup of catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactor using fixed type of support in accordance with the present invention.Specifically, the mechanism includes the fixed type support (10) in full inside circumferenceof a shell (20) of a reactor (not shown) for holding weld material therein. Specifically, the weld material is used for weld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) on inner circumference of the shell (20) of the reactor.
The supports (10) for weld material are fixed in the shell (20) inside of the reactor by using holding clips (30) as shown in figure l.The shell (20) of the reactor is rotated using rotators (not shown).
Referring now to figure 2, which shows a schematic drawing of a mechanism (200) of weld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell of the reactor using floating type of support in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention.Specifically, the mechanism (200) includes a floating type of support (110) covering a portion of the shell (120) of the reactor for holding a weld material therein. The weld material is used for weld buildupof catalyst support rings(CSR) on inner circumference of the shell (120) of the reactor.
In an embodiment, wherein the fixedtype supports are made of copper segments covering entirecircumference of the shell of the reactor.
Further, the mechanism (200) includes a plurality of clips (130) for fixingthe floating type of support(l 10) inside of the shell (120)of the reactor. During the weld build upof the catalyst support rings(CSR) inside the shell (120)of the reactor, the shell of the reactor receives the weld material therein from at least one nozzle (111) and provides the weld material on the inner circumference of the rotating shell (120) for weld build up of catalyst support rings(CSR). The shell (120) of the reactor is rotated using a plurality of rotators (not shown).
In an embodiment, the floating type support is made ofcopper segment pieces covering a portion of the shell of the reactor.
The shell (20, 120) of the reactor is rotated by a plurality of rotators.
Use of the fixed type of support (10) and the floating type of support (HO)achieves final shape of the catalyst support rings by depositing less weld material.
Advantages of the present invention
1. The mechanism (100, 200) causes lessweld build-up depositioncompared to traditional way of weld buildup.
2. The mechanism (100, 200) takeless time in machining of as welded CSR to provide final shape.
3.The floating type mechanism (200) further takes lesser time as Non Value adding activities of DHT and welding & removing of holding clips (30) are eliminated compared to fixed type Mechanism (100).
