Specification

DESC:FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to a metal transition fitting used in plumbing and piping system. Particularly, the present invention relates to metal insert provided with inner threads. More particularly, the present invention relates to threaded metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding. Further, the present invention minimizes reaction of chemicals and water impurities with outer surface of metal and also minimizes the chance of cracking at the time of over tightening.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Generally a fitting is used in pipe plumbing systems to connect straight pipe or tubing sections, to adapt to different sizes or shapes, and for other purposes, such as regulating or measuring fluid flow. Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) fittings are widely used with CPVC and PVC pipes for supplying water from bottom to top or from top to bottom and distributing the water to rooms such as kitchen, bathroom etc in place of iron pipes and iron fittings. The main disadvantage of this type of pipes and fittings are that they get rusted in long run and pipes and fittings crack or break inside the wall or outside the wall.

Referring to Figures 1 to 5, the conventional metal hexagonal metal transition fitting uses metal insert having an O-ring [4] positioned on a groove [3] as shown in Figure 4 located on one end edges of the metal insert and other end of the metal insert is provided with hexagonal [6] as shown in Figure 3 preferably made up of brass with inner threads [2] as shown in Figure 5. A male pipe connector [7] preferable made up of PVC as shown in Figures 1 and 2 is connected with one end of the brass hexagonal [6] with inner threads. However, the brass hexagonal [6] is costlier and chemicals and water impurities reacts with outer surface of the metal.

Some of the prior arts are:
US8172275 discloses a pipe fitting including a main polymeric body and a secondary polymeric body, of a different polymeric material, molded into and fixedly connected to the main body, so that the main body extends around the polymeric body. The main body may include an outer polygonal portion, which is preferably hexagonal, for being engaged by a wrench, to facilitate twisting of the composite fitting for installation purposes.

US20060157980 discloses an adapter for connecting two segments of pipe. The adapter includes a guide insert made of a rigid material and a receptor body made of a plastic material. Both the guide insert and the receptor body have threads that fit together so that a threaded pipe segment is first inserted into the rigid threads of the guide insert and then transitions to the plastic threads of the receptor body.

CN202805524 discloses a hexagonal metal insert which comprises a metal insert provided with a through hole, wherein the through hole is formed in a center axis of the metal insert and passes through the entire metal insert; and the metal insert comprises a hexagonal structure with the hexagonal outer circumference of the cross section formed by plastic molding process.

Accordingly, there exists a need for a cost effective metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding which minimizes reaction of chemicals and water impurities with outer surface of the metal and also minimizes the chance of cracking at the time of over tightening.

OBJECTS OF INVENTION
One or more problems present of the prior art may be overcome by various embodiment of the present invention.

It is another object of the present invention, wherein the rigid material includes chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and high density polyethylene (HDPE).

It is another object of the present invention, wherein the metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding minimizes reaction of chemicals and water impurities with outer surface of metal.

It is another object of the present invention, wherein the metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding minimizes the chance of cracking at the time of over tightening.

It is another object of the present invention, wherein the metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding prevents decay of metal insert from the environment/atmosphere.

It is another object of the present invention to provide metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding of varying sizes and of various types that includes brass elbow, brass tee and brass female adaptor.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION
Thus according to the basic aspect of the present invention there is provided a metal insert used in plumbing and piping system comprising of inner part and coarse outer part,
wherein the inner part of the metal insert is provided with threads,
wherein the coarse outer part of the metal insert is provided with plain grooves to accommodate at least two O-rings, and
wherein the coarse outer part of the metal insert with O-rings is encircled with rigid hexagonal molding using injection molding technique.

It is another aspect of the present invention, wherein the metal insert has two O-rings on the grooves located on edges of the metal insert, thereby minimizing the chance of leakage of any liquid and air.

It is another aspect of the present invention, wherein the metal is brass.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING FIGURES
The present invention is thus directed to a metal insert provided with inner threads. More particularly, the present invention relates to threaded metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding. Further, the present invention minimizes reaction of chemicals and water impurities with outer surface of metal and also minimizes the chance of cracking at the time of over tightening.

Referring to Figures 6 to 10 of the present invention, the metal insert [1] used in plumbing and piping system comprising of inner part and outer part, said inner part of the metal insert [1] is provided with threads [2]. The outer part of the metal insert [1] is coarse and is provided with plain grooves [3] successively to accommodate O-rings [4] as shown in Figures 7 to 10. Preferably, the metal insert [1] has two O-rings [4] on the grooves [3] located on edges of the metal insert [1] thereby minimizing the chance of leakage of any liquid and air. The outer part of the metal insert [1] is encircled with rigid hexagonal molding [5] as shown in Figure 6 using injection molding technique. The metal used for metal insert is brass.

Molding technique:
Molds of various sizes and types are prepared and positioned in the injection molding machine. The molds are opened and the metal inserts [1] are inserted in the cavities of the molds. The molds are then closed and the molten rigid material is injected by the help of injection molding machine. The rigid material goes inside the cavity through a passage called runner and spreads surrounding the metal and takes the shape as per the given shape of cavity and punch. The molded metal inserts are allowed to cool to form proper shape and the molded metal inserts are separated by the help of ejector from the mold. The rigid material includes but not limited to chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and high density polyethylene (HDPE).

Advantages of the present invention are:
• Minimizes reaction of chemicals and water impurities with outer surface of metal.
• Minimizes the chance of cracking at the time of over tightening.
• Prevents decay of metal insert from the environment/atmosphere.
• Metal insert encircled with rigid hexagonal molding of varying sizes and of various types that includes brass elbow, brass tee and brass female adaptor.
