Abstract: A method and device for database design and creation is disclosed. The method includes determining ranks for each of a plurality of variables in each of a plurality of databases based on at least one attribute associated with each of the plurality of variables. The method further includes arranging each of the plurality of variables in a sequence with respect to an associated database from the plurality of databases. The method includes computing a correlation coefficient between the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases based on the sequence of arrangement. The method further includes determining based on the correlation coefficient, whether a relationship exists between one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases. The method includes creating a database using the plurality of databases based on the relationship, when the relationship exists between the one or more of the plurality of variables. FIG. 3
Claims:WE CLAIM
1. A method of database design and creation, the method comprising:
determining, by a database creation device, ranks for each of a plurality of variables in each of a plurality of databases based on at least one attribute associated with each of the plurality of variables;
arranging, by the database creation device, each of the plurality of variables in a sequence with respect to an associated database from the plurality of databases;
computing, by the database creation device, a correlation coefficient between the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases based on the ranks and the sequence of arrangement;
determining, by the database creation device, based on the correlation coefficient, whether a relationship exists between one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases; and
creating, by the database creation device, a database using the plurality of databases based on the relationship, when the relationship exists between the one or more of the plurality of variables.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining based on the correlation comprises establishing that one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are related, when the correlation coefficient is positive.
3. The method of claim 2, wherein establishing the relationship comprises identifying a key across the plurality of databases.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein creating the database comprises utilizing the key to extract content from the plurality of databases.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein determining comprises establishing that none of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are related in the current sequence of arrangement, when the correlation coefficient is negative.
6. The method of claim 1 further comprising rearranging each of the plurality of variables in a modified sequence with respect to an associated database from the plurality of databases, when the correlation coefficient is negative.
7. The method of claim 6 further comprising re-computing a revised correlation coefficient between the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases based on the modified sequence of arrangement.
8. The method of claim 7 further comprising determining, based on the revised correlation coefficient, whether one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are related.
9. The method of claim 1 further comprising creating entity relationship models and extended entity relationship model based on relation determined using the correlation coefficient.
10. The method of claim 9 further comprising performing normalization of the entity relationship models and the extended entity relationship models.
11. A database creation device for database design and creation, the database creation device comprising:
a processor; and
a memory communicatively coupled to the processor, wherein the memory stores processor instructions, which, on execution, causes the processor to:
determine ranks for each of a plurality of variables in each of a plurality of databases based on at least one attribute associated with each of the plurality of variables;
arrange each of the plurality of variables in a sequence with respect to an associated database from the plurality of databases;
compute a correlation coefficient between the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases based on the ranks and the sequence of arrangement;
determine based on the correlation coefficient, whether a relationship exists between one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases; and
create a database using the plurality of databases based on the relationship, when the relationship exists between the one or more of the plurality of variables.
12. The database creation device of claim 11, wherein to determine the processor instructions further cause the processor to establish that one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are related, when the correlation coefficient is positive.
13. The database creation device of claim 12, wherein to determine the relationship the processor instructions further cause the processor to identify a key across the plurality of databases.
14. The database creation device of claim 13, wherein to create the database the processor instructions further cause the processor to utilize the key to extract content from the plurality of databases.
15. The database creation device of claim 11, wherein to determine the processor instructions further cause the processor to establish that one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are not related, when the correlation coefficient is negative.
16. The database creation device of claim 11, the processor instructions further cause the processor to rearrange each of the plurality of variables in a modified sequence with respect to an associated database from the plurality of databases, when the correlation coefficient is negative.
17. The database creation device of claim 16, wherein the processor instructions further cause the processor to re-compute a revised correlation coefficient between the pluralities of variables across the plurality of databases based on the ranks and the modified sequence of arrangement.
18. The database creation device of claim 17, the processor instructions further cause the processor to determine, based on the revised correlation coefficient, whether one or more of the plurality of variables across the plurality of databases are related.
19. The database creation device of claim 11, wherein the processor instructions further cause the processor to further comprising creating entity relationship models and extended entity relationship model based on relation determined using the correlation coefficient.
20. The database creation device of claim 19, wherein the processor instructions further cause the processor to preform normalization of the entity relationship models and the extended entity relationship models.
