Abstract: For the manufacture of packing cases for liquid a flat flexible container profile to make two half flexible container profiles with a cutting line at the middle is provided. Pairwise half flexible container profiles pieces lying opposite to one another on both sides of the longitudinal cutting line are separated by transversely running welding seams and are provided with opposltel. placed corner with hand crip hole and the outer corner piece with cutting line. The cutting line merges with the longitudinal cutting line and borders the side seam formed by the transverse c seam of the half flexible container profile pieces. The corner pieces are torr. off from the half flexible container profile, after the formation of pairwise cross section of the half flexible container proflle. In order to be able to safely separate the corner pieces and carry them away smoothly, a cutting line separating the corner piece and the cross section separating the half flexible container profile from the flexible container profile is provided in the region of another gusset piece as Perforation section. Forward running gusset like corner pieces are torn off bv the withdrawl roll from both the half flexible container profile while they are still connected with the flexible container profile and/or are stuck with punch forming the cross section.
Method and Mechanism for manufacture of
Packing Cases for liquid
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing of packing
cases for liquid, at which & flat flexible container profile
and preferably equipped with lateral folds, is provided with
a longitudinal section at the middle for formation of two half
flexible container profiles and flexible container pieces,
lying opposite to one another pairwise, both sides of the
longitudinal section are provided with hand grip holes and
external corner pieces separating cutting lines in angular
corner, which Is divided by transversely running welding seams
and. is lying opposite to each other, where the cutting line
merge in the longitudinal section and the suitable, the cross
welding seams building the lateral seams of the half flexible
container profile, and where the corner pieces are torn off,
after the execution, from the half flexible container profile
nieces, palrwise separating cross sections by the half flexible
container profile pieces, as well as a mechanism for the imple-
mentation o^ the method.
Packing cases of the kind, manufactured according to the method
described earlier, help the acceptance of the liquids, for
example as refil packing cases of the acceptance of liquid
washing agent (deternt).
A known method and a known mechanism for manufacture of similar
packing cases for liquid is explained in details on the basis
of the figure 1 of the drawing. In a mechanism 1 for manufacture
of packing cases 2, the schematic thrcu.ch border stuping
equipment 3» the preferential rolls 4, the transverse stamrinc-
equipment 5, the table Plate (6) buildir.c a base support fcr the
-2-
welded packing cases (2) and reinforcing conveyor belt 7 Is
explained, there moves-ln a flexible container profile 8
equipped with lateral fcl^s, which is sub-divided through a
medium longitudinal section 9 in two half flexible container
profile 10 and 11. Each of the half flexible container profiles
is in the range of their lateral folds between laterally welded
seams 12 indicated in a dotted manner provided with arch-like
curved welding seams 13» out of which, each catches only one
fold of lateral folds lying UDon one another, in each case.
Further on, the half flexible container profile pieces 2,
limited through the cross welding seams 12, adjacent to the
middle cutting line 9, provided with somehow diagonally passing
welding seams 14, which flows out in the middle cutting line
and flows in In the welding seam 12. Through the transversely
passing welding seams 1U corner ranges 15 flre separated from
the half flexible container Droflle pieces 2, both sides of
the middle cutting line 9, which referred to the middle cutting
line Q, exists at the corne^ range lying oonoslte to ersch other
of the half flexible container crofile pieces 2, pairwise. The
not-represented outline punch of known art of construction
provide in the cutting punching section 1 the half flexible
container profile pieces 2, which are lying opposite to each
other pairwlse, in stand-still positions occurring, tactwlse,
of the flexible container profile 8 in the corner areas 15 with
hand holes blank outs l6 and with perforation section 17 passing
approximately parallel to the welding seam 15.
Around simultaneously with the outline rumen cuttings in the
outline oerforatinc section 1 there takes place in the cross
ounrhlng section 5 the errs? section 18 through the flexible
container orcfile 8 and the h«lf flexible container rrofile 10,1*«
-3-
through which the packing cases 2 are separated from the
flexible container profile. The cross-sections 18 are passed
through concentrically through the proportionally widely formed
cross weldinc seams 12, so that both the sides of the cross
sections 18 of the packing cases remain laterally closing,
concentrically separated cross welding seams. Simultaneously,
with the cross welding sections 18, the external corners of the
half flexible container profile pieces are separated, where
cut-out angular pieces remain still connected with the follow-
ing half flexible container profile through small pieces.
Afterwards, after the formation of the next tact, through
which the flexible container profile has been further conveyed
intermittently around the width of a half flexible container
profile piece, convey the conveyors ? existing from the usual
suction bands the flame washed packing cases to a predetermined
conveying stretch, so that between flame-washed 'packing case 2
and the earlier end of the following flexible container profile
a gap arises. The triangular gusset oiece 21 and the triangular
corner nieces 19 are then separated rather torn off and sucked
off through impact like at this affectinsr punch or beater.
Through the suction band 7 the packing cases 2 are then conveyed
outwards from the equipment, pairwise, Each packing case 2,
manufactured in the equipment 1,shows consequently a filling-in
orifice 24, which prevails near gripping bottle 25 carrying the
gripping hole 16. After the filling of the packing case the
orifice 24 is closed in the usual manner. Through the filling
the packing case takes in its floor area an approximately round
form thereby, that the midrle fold 23 drawn in a dotted manner
is pressed through and press-turned in the level o:' the floor
built by the curved welding searrs 13-
During the manufacture of the pocking cases on the fixture, whict
is known and described earlier, there arises problems during the
tearing off and removal of the gusset piece 21 and of the trian-
gular nieces 19, since these must be struck off and pressed out
through punch-like stempel. Further more, the separated shred
sucked tsff, in order to avoid any disturbance in the fixture,
as a result of their pillng-up. Subsequently, the suction band
must also be driven intermittently, in order to bring, in a
special pace, the separated pair of the packing cases in a
position to the front end of the flexible container profile 10,
that the gusset piece i^nd the triangular pieces 19, 21 can be
struck off and driven out (by pressure) in one tact.
Beyond that, the known device is comparatively expensive because
of the nature of construction of the gusset piece and angular
pieces 19, 21 tearln^-off the punches and the suction band,
being intermittently driven.
The task of the invention is, therefore, to propose a method
of the nature indicated at the beginning, according to which
the gusset niece and angular niece 19- 21 definitely detgch
and can be transported smoothly with low expense.
According to the invention this problem ia solved thereby, that
a cutting line dividing an angular piece and the cross section,
separating the half flexible container profile pieces Pron the
flexible container profile in the sphere of other angular piece
executed as perforation section and the forward moving gusset
piece like angular pieces are earn-off by the withdrawal rolls
Prom both the half flexible container prufila sections, while
these are still connected with flexible container profile and/
or are 3truck by the punch executing tha cross section. According
to the method as per Invention, therefore, the somehow triangular
gusset piece, positioned at both sides of the longitudinal
sections in the middle of the flexible container prfile surely
gripped and torn-off by the withdrawal rolls during tha
intermittently, tactuise following stand stilJ positions of tha
flexible container profit. The withdrawal rolls take over
there, after the tearing-off, also the conveying off of tha
gusset piece uith precisely defined conveying direction, so
that this can be conveyed to a waste basket, collecting the
scrap. ft simple, simultaneous tearing off of the gusset piece
is achieved, as per Invention, thereby that a gusset piece with
the grop stamp joint of a packing case and of a half flexible
container profile connected through the cro33-piece of the p
perforation section and tha other projecting gusset piece of
the perforation section with the lateral welding seam of the
other half flexible container profile piec^.
According to a further developement of the method
according to the Invention, at which both the lateral fold
lying upon one another in the sphere of each half flexible
container pieces are provided bent bottom-welding-seams, so
that during filling through turning inside out of the lateral
fold between both the best bottom-wolding-seams a essentially
round bottom of the packing cese forms, it is intended, that
the corner arsas of the lateral folds of each half flexible
- 6 -
container pieces provided with thi3 dividing perforation
section and the corner pieces built thereby around simultan-
eously with the angular pieces are torn off through tha
withdrawal rolls. There the angular cut can bo forbad for
the forward moving half flaxibla container profile continuously
so that the angular piecB remains connected through minimum
one perforation piece with the following half flexible container
pieces , since the elbows are torn off from this. Also these
anguler pieces let in the same advantageous manner as the gu33at
piece to tear-off and through the withdrawal rolls and be conveyed
to a waster container.
A mechanism for implementation of the method according
to the Invention as per claim No.1 with the flexible container
c
profile and both the half flexible container profiles tactwise
intermittently muving-up praferetial rolls, with, in each casj?,
in each tact two Dair3 of half flexible container profile pieces
1/ing opposed to eacn other with Che handl e-h olos und th -3 angular
sections, as w«ll as the cross sections with perforation sections
in the range of an angular piaca provided with punch and with the
pairwise separated half flexible container profile conveyor
x!* belt3 conveying through a » supporting table'^distinguishes
itself according to the invention thereby, that in the range of
the table both tha without rolls, which are clamping at the gusset
pieces on supporting and withdrawing these and conveying thisa
off are supported ui tn the axis, lying diagonal of the conveying
direction of the flexible container profile. Appropriately, the
table is equipped with a jinjou like opening for acceptance of
the torn-off gu3set pieces in which the without rolls convey the
tha gu33et pieces. Under this opening a waste basket can be
set up,
In case of a mechanism according to the claim3 3 4 4 for
implotientation of the method as par claim No.2 it is intended,
that for tearing off of the angular pieces in the range of the
table tuo this tearing off withdrawal rolls are attached. The
E-xis of these withdrawal roll lie appropriately parallel to tha
conveying direction of the flexible container profile.
The table behind the withdrawal rolls is provided with
openings for acceptance of the torn-off and pieces, appropriately
In further development of the Invention, it is intended,
that for pairuise conveying of the flatly lying packing cases,
conveyor belts, continuously driven, are provided. These conveyoi
belts can be built as simple conveyor belts, since they help only
the conveying of the packing cases lying thereon and the3e need
not be retained as sucking, as this i3 required in che known
device ("iach ani s^) .
As per an invention based further dsv el opment, for
which independent protection is required, it is intended, the
each withdrawal roll is supported on a shaft through a free
wheeling, which supported in a freely revolving -nannar rocking
lever, that the shaft is connected with a lever, at whose free
and the piston rod i3 hinged to one of these down pressing
pressure medium piston cylinder unit and that the shaft is e
equipped with spr:'.ngy element.
springy element that it strives to stop against an impact of
rocking lever and is pressed over by the pressure medium piston
cylinder unit only then, when the withdrawal roll supports
itself on its base (plate) support and at the to be torn foil
piece. At this further development according to the Invention
only one pressure medium plstion cylinder unit is provided for
both for pressing down as well as for drive of the withdrawal
roll.
Appropriately, a second lever arm is connected with the shaft,
one tension spring expanded between this and the frame strives
to stop against one impact of the rocking lever. According to
this formation, the sprint element is built through a simple
tension spring.

An execution example of the Invention is explained in the following
on the basis of figures 2 to 4 in details, where
Figure 2 a plan view to a schematic representation of the
mechanise for manufacture of the packing cases.
Figure 3 a lateral view of the withdrawal roll and its drive.
Figure 4 - an angular section, folded in the plane, and shown
through the withdrawn roll as per figure 3 and
In figure 2 the same parts as per figure 1 has been engaged with
the same reference symbol.
In the outline perforation section 3 only the section 30 is
executed in the lower half flexible container profile piece 2 as
perforation section line, whereas the cutting line 31 exists from
a continuous complete section.
In the diagonal perforating section 5 the cutting line 32 diagonally
passing is executed urto the ranre 33» continuously.
In the range 33, which stretches itself through the ranee of a short
side of the rectangular triangle (cathetus) of the gusset piece 21,
is the cutting line, passing transversely, built through a
perforation section. After the complete packing cases 2 have been
conveyed through the continuously driven conveyor belts 33i the top
gusset piece 21 through the perforation section 33 is still connected
with the following half flexible container profile piece 2, whereas
the lower gusset Diece 21 is connected with the lower half flexible
container profile ciece 2 through the perforation cutting line 30.
9-
As soon as the flexible container profile 8 and both the half
flexible container profile 10, 11 have reached the position as
visible from the figure 2, the withdrawal roll 36, 37 tear off,
which a.re arranged in the represented manner staggered to one
another in the conveying direction, the gusset piece 21, 21 during
a flexible container stand-still position of the half flexible
container profile pieces 2 and convey this through the window
opening "}8 of the table plate 6 in a waste basket standing under
the opening.
In the corresponding manner tears off the withdrawal rolls 39»
kO the angular piece 19 from the half flexible container profile
pieces 2 and convey this through the opening 41, k2 In the table
plate 6 in waste basket standing below that.
Jn the next tack, after the execution of the diagonal cutting
line the half flexible container profile 2 are conveyed off from
the continuously rotating conveyor belts 33*
During the tearing off of the gusset piece 21, 22 and the angular
pieces 19 the half flexible container profile pieces 2 are either
still connected with half flexible container profile 10, 11, so
that they are detained (held up) by the preferential roll pairs k,
or they-are held up by the knife of cross cutting punch 5
laterally holding carrier bracket, which press the line on a
base (support).
The withdrawal rolls act together with the squeezer plate, which
helps as the support. In order to reduce the friction with the
squeezer plate, it is possible to provide «s support also freely
turnable rolls. """
Now the development of the withdrawal roll is described in details
on the bs?sis of the figures 3 and h with reference to the tear off
(transfer) roll 36.
The withdrawal roll Jo is supported through a free wheel 50 on the
shaft 51. The shaft 51 is supported in the rocking lever 53» freely
turnable, through the ball bearing 52, which, on its part is
supported, in a swingable manner, through the ball bearing f^» on a
firm frame journal 55- A hub 57 is fastened on the journal 56 x>? tr
shaft 51» projecting out from the rocking lever 53» which carries
the two levers 58 end 59 standing in an angular manner, to one
another. The lever arm 58, Jutting out in the direction of the
extension of the rocking lever 53, is equipped with a Journal
standing rectangu^lar to this, on which the piston rod 60 of a
cylinder 6l of a pneumatic piston cylinder unit Is supported in a
turnable manner. The cylinder 61 is sunrorted on a journal 63 in g|
revolving manner, which is connected with a tight-frase supporting
arm.
The second lever arm 59 attached to the hub 57 Is equipped with
a rectangular projecting journal 65, on which one end of a tension
i
spring is fastened, whose other end is fastened to a Journal 67 of'
1
a firm framed supporting arm. Through the tension spring 66
the grm 59 is held at one support 68, which is connected with the
rocking lever 53*
-11-
If the lever arm 58 Is pressed downwards through the pneumatic
piston cylinder unit 6l, the rocking lever 53 revolves In an
8nti-clockwise manner, till the withdrawal rolls 36 comes to the
position 36, which Is clean dotted, in which this touches the foil
gusset piece. There the tension spring 66 is so strongly pre-
stressed, that it holds the lever 59 in the mechanist; at the
support 68, so that the withdrawl rolls 36 executes no rotation
relative to the rocking lever 53« If the withdrawl roll J>6
supports Itself in the position 36 on the foil gusset piece 21,
the piston cylinder unit 6l presses over the tension spring, so
that the piston cylinder unit 6l gives the withdrawl roll 36
a rotation, which leads to the teering-off of the foil gusset
piece 21 and to its transport.
The withdrawl roll 36 is provided with a groove through Its
circumference, in which a ring 60 is laid-ln, which possesses a
high friction - co-efficient.
