Specification

DESC:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method and a system for analysing and enhancing psychological well being of an individual.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.

Cognitive function is a measure of brain health of an individual. The cognitive functions can be categorized into situational, traumatic, and disease related. Cognitive function spans across a broad range of cognitive domains such as memory, attention, processing speed, verbal skills, general intelligence, and executive function.

Research has revealed that several different areas of the brain are involved in emotional processing and selective attention. The ability to quickly and efficiently select emotionally relevant stimuli is critical for functioning of an individual. Individuals with emotional processing ability have a better ability to respond appropriately in a variety of situations, flexibly and adaptively. The interaction of these regions of the brain extracts the emotional or motivational value of sensory events and helps individuals respond appropriately in different situations.

According to the WHO, around 7.5 percent of Indians suffer from some form of a mental illness, with a predicted 20 percent of India suffering from mental illness by the end of this year which is a serious concern. With an early approach to prevent mental illness or providing early diagnosis and treatment, the mental health concerns can be addressed before they become a big problem.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy. It was originally designed to treat depression, but is now used for a number of mental disorders. It works to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior. The name refers to behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, and therapy based upon a combination of basic behavioral and cognitive principles.

Usually cognitive function tests are administered by trained psychometrician requiring several hours of testing and cannot be repeated more frequently than once per year. The test scores can vary due to a change in the person's cognitive function, due to the subjective nature of the interpretation of the tests, or due to situational factors that may affect an individual on the day of the test. Repeat cognitive function testing by a psychometrician is neither practical nor reliable when repeated more frequently than once per year because the individual acquires test-taking skills for the test. Unfortunately, there is no known reliable system or method for repeated and regular assessment of cognitive function of an individual.

The emergence of online tests available through many applications suffer test practice effects that are well documented whereby the subject develops test taking skills that increase their scores but do not transfer well to real world activities and undermine the test's sensitivity and specificity to cognitive changes.

Example 3: Theme 1- Staying Organized/Managing Time
The ability to manage time eventually leads to the ability to stay organized. Anxiety can be increased by panic behaviors. By organizing time, an individual can remain organized and clam. This theme contains an activity worksheet which is named as GOT (Great optimizing technique). The individual sorts out long term goals for the week and then break them into short goals and just update the goals as long as the work related to that short goal is completed. Thus, by the end of the week, the individual completes the short term goals and long term goals. The time can be managed in following 4 Activity Modules:

Activity Module 1: Distinguish Goals- Begin by distinguishing between general and specialized goals. Universal goals are those that everyone strives to attain. Exam preparation, everyday regular tasks such as academics or homework are examples. But what distinguishes a goal as clear or specific? It is the manner in which an individual chooses to fulfill that goal that distinguishes it as distinct and one-of-a-kind. How an individual manages his work and time towards that work, how efficiently he splits the short term and long term goals, and how he determines the short term and long term goals are all important.
Activity Module 2: Make a schedule- The individual will create a highly adaptable calendar to meet unique objectives. It will be a flexible timetable because being rigorous about any task might induce worry and impair all the work. Individual is asked to determine how much time he will devote to completing the work. He is required to write down the timetable on paper or keep a note on phone and set a reminder.
Activity Module 3: Implement the schedule- The Individual is required to follow the timetable in the third stage. He is instructed to tick the finished work or reward himself after completing a challenging task to keep himself motivated. As a reward, he can take a break, go for a stroll, play games, watch television, or do any other enjoyable task.
Activity Module 4: Stick to the Schedule- This is the most crucial and toughest step to take to achieve the goals.

Theme 2- Increase Positive self-talk
Intrapersonal communication refers to conversation with oneself. This form of discussion takes place mostly in our minds; it is also known as self-talk. It's a mix of negative and positive rhetoric. Negative self-talk includes constantly criticizing oneself, blaming oneself for everything that goes wrong, and being disrespectful to oneself. This style of discourse demotivates an Individual, resulting in poor academic performance and low self-esteem. Talking about one’s unpleasant emotions might help one feel better, but criticizing oneself is a negative attribute.
The theme emphasizes to practice or focus on the good things that have happened in life more frequently, thus relieving from constantly discussing terrible situations.

Activity Module 5:- Practice positive self-talk and be more kind with oneself. Devote time to oneself. Keep a diary and write about your accomplishments and skills. Write 5 positive things about yourself every week for a month, and if you find it useful, make it a weekly ritual.

Theme 3- Avoid 2nd arrow
An individual blames himself when anything bad happens, which is represented by two arrows.
The first arrow reflects unpleasant events such as falling or being trapped in a horrible circumstance. Everyone experiences suffering as a result of the first arrow at some point in his lives. Not every circumstance is ideal or well-planned. But, when an individual has a negative reaction to a poor experience, such as feeling angry, agitated, blaming oneself, or whining, the pain is set off to the second arrow.
The agony of the second arrow may be a decision. An individual cannot control or prevent terrible situations from occurring, nor can he prevent someone from being disrespectful to him. But he can always choose how to react to it. An individual can choose not to respond badly to that event, and thus stop the second arrow.

Activity Module 6:- An individual is instructed try 3/5 breathing to a stressful situation. Such as if the individual is working on a project and somehow the project is ruined, instead of being angry and blaming himself, he is advised to practice these three steps until you feel at ease:-
Step 1- Take a deep breath(inhale) for 5 seconds
Step 2- Hold the breath (5 seconds)
Step 3- Release the breath (exhale) for 5 seconds.

Theme 4- Cognitive Enhancement
The individual is caused to perform activities to exercise to focus on what he is doing and to be present in the moment.

Activity Module 7:- There are several strategies and approaches that may be used to improve one's attention. Playing word games, doing sudoku puzzles, and reading a book are some of the ways. In this Activity Module, the individual is trained to tackle problems and try to finish the activities without getting distracted. The games may include anagrams, word puzzles and sudoku.

Theme 5- Learn to forgive
Forgiveness sounds so easy and yet it’s tough to muster in practice. The activity teaches to first forgive oneself, for example by saying “I accept and forgive myself for the past mistakes”. Then the individual is learnt to forgive others, by seeing a broader picture of the circumstances.

Activity Module 8:- Individual is caused to write a letter to himself for those mistakes or grudges he has not forgiven yet. It is not necessary to post the letter. The frequency of writing letter can be one in 3 days or once a week. The activities may include the contents related to appreciate being forgiven, imagine forgiveness, write a letter of forgiveness, practice empathy, consider charitable attributions, make contact with the person forgiven, remind yourself to forgive and to forget.

Theme 6- Practicing Kindness/ Nurturing Relationships
When someone does something nice for someone else, dopamine, serotonin, endorphin, and oxytocin levels rise. These are happy chemicals that makes feel good. Increased levels of these hormones in the body will keep an individual calm and cheerful.

Activity Module 9:- This is the daily activity. This activity takes place at least three times every week. Even little acts of kindness can be performed and recorded on a regular basis. Individual is caused to write a thank-you note or a message to someone he cares about, such as a friend or family member. It is necessary to express gratitude to that person for their presence in the individual’s life. Some of the activities through which acts of kindness and nurture our relationships can be performed are helping a friend in need, texting one person each day with an encouraging message, buying things from people on the street, helping needy ones, making a motivational playlist and share it with a friend, offering the items he no longer uses to those who need them, spending time with your grandparents, giving compliments to people, helping street animals.
