A method for classification of electronic catalog entries into one or more category wise arranged database, comprising the steps of:training the computer implemented catalog classification system inat least one language with the help of pre-classified trainingcatalogs by assigning weightage to all categories in the hierachy,classifying the said catalog entry into top most relevant categoriesin the category hierarchy of said database,assigning a confidence value to each of the said classified catalogentry, andautomated sampling of the said classified catalogs by thecomputing system for quality assurance.
