Method And System For Cold Starting A Compression Ignition Engine
Abstract: Method 100 and system 200 for cold starting a compression ignition engine 10 is provided. The method 100 includes heating the charge through a heating device 204 and inducting the heated charge inside the cylinder of engine 10 during cranking of the engine 10, compressing the inducted heated charge without injection of fuel in the cylinder of the engine 10 for a plurality of cycles by maintaining cranking the engine 10, reheating the compressed charge through the heating device 204 by allowing the compressed charge flow from the cylinder to the heating device 204 on movement of at least one intake valve 20I to an open position, recirculating the reheated charge into the cylinder by inducting the reheated charge inside the cylinder of engine 10, and injecting fuel into the cylinder of engine 10 to facilitate sustained combustion of the fuel in the cylinder of engine 10 thereby starting the engine 10.
