"Method And System For Determining The Incoming Direction Of An Electromagnetic Wave Having Any Polarisation"
Abstract: Method for determining the direction of arrival of an incident electromagnetic wave of bearing θ0, of elevation ho, of frequency F0 and of arbitrary polarization P0, comprising at least the following steps: o designing a single antenna array on the basis of a set of radiating elements whose vector responses to two signals of distinct polarizations POL1 and POL2 are not collinear, o determining a first calibration table for said antenna array containing the vector responses a1(Fi,>Xj) and a2(FuXj) o interpolating at said frequency F0 the vector responses a^Fo.Xj) and a2(F0,Xj) of the array for each value Xj of said interval [X1,X2]. o orthonormalizing said vector responses a1(F0,Xj) and a2(F0,Xj) so as to produce the orthonormalized vector responses of the array b1(F0.Xj) and b2(F0,Xj), o acquiring on said antenna array the signal received arising from said electromagnetic wave of bearing θ0 or of elevation h0 and of frequency F0 and applying to said signal a goniometry procedure.
