"Method For Detecting Steel Hardened Texture"
Abstract: A method of detection of a solidification microstructure of steel characterized by polishing a cross-section of a sample of a steel cast slab, heating the sample to 40 to 90°C, then bringing a polished surface of the sample into contact with a corrosive solution to corrode the polished surface. Further, this heats the corrosive solution to a temperature of 40 to 90°C, then brings the polished surface of the sample into contact with the corrosive solution. Even after the sample contacts the corrosive solution, the temperature of the corrosive solution will not fall, the corrosive ability when using a high temperature corrosive solution will be maintained at a high level, the electrochemical corrosion utilizing the difference in potentials due to the difference in solute concentrations will proceed in a short time, and clear solidification microstructures can be revealed. The temperature of the corrosive solution is preferably made -10 to -5°C or +5°C or more with respect to the temperature of the sample.
