Specification

Claims:1. A scalable method for inhibiting foaming of sodium cetearyl sulfate (SCS) during preparation of a cosmetic formulation comprising a water phase, and an oil phase, said method comprising:
a. obtaining a water phase mixture comprising: (a) at least one humectant; (b) at least one polymer; (c) at least one chelating agent; (d) at least one emulsifier; and (e) water;
b. obtaining an oil phase mixture comprising: (a) at least one emollient; and (b) at least one skin conditioning agent;
c. obtaining an aqueous solution of sodium cetearyl sulfate, wherein sodium cetearyl sulfate to water w/w ratio in said solution is in the range of 1:16-1:24, and temperature of said solution is in the range of 75-80°C;
d. contacting said oil phase to said water phase at a temperature in the range of 80-85°C and mixing for 15-30 minutes to obtain a homogenous mixture A, followed by cooling of said homogenous mixture A to a temperature in the range of 70-80°C; and
e. contacting said mixture A with said aqueous solution of sodium cetearyl sulfate and mixing for 10-20 minutes to obtain a cosmetic formulation,
wherein said method inhibits foaming of sodium cetearyl sulfate during preparation of said cosmetic formulation.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein sodium cetearyl sulfate to water w/w ratio in said solution of step (c) is 1:20.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein water phase mixture to oil phase mixture w/w ratio in said cosmetic formulation is in the range of 1:0.3-1:0.7.
4. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein water phase mixture to oil phase mixture w/w ratio in said cosmetic formulation is 1:0.43.
5. The method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising suitable additives such as sunscreen agents, preservatives, and colouring agents.
6. A cosmetic formulation prepared by a method as claimed claim 5, comprising:
a. mineral oil having weight concentration in the range of 5-15%;
b. glycerin having weight concentration in the range of 1-6%;
c. disodium EDTA having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-1%;
d. cetostearyl alcohol having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-7%;
e. sodium cetaearyl sulfate having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-5%;
f. glyceryl stearate having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-5%;
g. paraffin having weight concentration in the range of 0.3-3%;
h. dimethicone having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-7%;
i. microcrystalline wax having weight concentration in the range of 0.1-3%;
j. ammonium acryloyldmethyltaurate/VP copolymer having weight concentration in the range of 0.05-3%;
k. sodium carboxymethyl cellulose having weight concentration in the range of 0.01-5%; and
l. water to make up to 100%.
7. The cosmetic formulation as claimed in claim 6, comprising:
a. mineral oil having weight concentration of 11%;
b. glycerin having weight concentration of 3%;
c. disodium EDTA having weight concentration of 0.05%;
d. cetostearyl alcohol having weight concentration of 2%;
e. sodium cetostearyl sulfate having weight concentration of 0.5%;
f. glyceryl stearate having weight concentration of 5%;
g. paraffin having weight concentration of 1%;
h. dimethicone having weight concentration of 3%;
i. microcrystalline wax having weight concentration of 0.5%;
j. ammonium acryloyldmethyltaurate/VP copolymer having weight concentration of 0.5%;
k. sodium carboxymethyl cellulose having weight concentration of 0.25%; and
l. water to make up to 100%.
