Abstract: This method for manufacturing a catheter involves manufacturing a catheter that includes a braided body (16) having a first element wire and a second element wire intersecting the first element wire, and an outer layer provided on the outer circumference of the braided body (16), the method comprising: an arrangement step in which the braided body (16) is arranged on the cylindrical outer-circumferential surface of an inside member; a coating step in which the outer-circumferential side of the braided body (16) is coated with a laser-light-transmissive coating member (34); a cutting step in which a portion of the first element wire (17) and/or the second element wire (18) in the braided body (16) is irradiated with laser light (60) from the outer side of the coating member (34) and the element wire is cut, said portion being positioned further toward the distal-end side than an intersecting part (19); and a removal step in which the coating member (34) is removed from the outer-circumferential side of the braided body (16).
