Method For Preparing Ester Composition

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an ester composition and a resin composition comprising same. The present invention can appropriately manufacture a plasticizer composition having improved processability due to better absorption speed with respect to resin and reduced melting time thereby providing superior physical properties when processed with resin.

Specification

We Claim:
1. A method for preparing an ester composition comprising:
obtaining hybrid branched type, non-hybrid unbranched type and non-hybrid branched
type alkyl-substituted terephthalate compounds through esterification reaction,
wherein the hybrid branched type alkyl-substituted terephthalate compound is present
in an amount of 1 to 70% by weight in the ester composition.
2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the hybrid branched type alkylsubstituted
terephthalate compound is present in an amount of 1 to 20% by weight.
3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the esterification reaction is carried
out in the presence of an acid catalyst
4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the hybrid branched type alkylsubstituted
terephthalate compound is represented by the following Formula 1:

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the non-hybrid unbranched type
alkyl-substituted terephthalate compound is represented by the following Formula 2:

6. The method according to claim 1, wherein the non-hybrid branched type alkylsubstituted
terephthalate compound is represented by the following Formula 3:

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein a weight ratio of the non-hybrid
unbranched type alkyl-substituted terephthalate compound to the non-hybrid branched
type alkyl-substituted terephthalate compound is 1:99 to 40:60.
8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the esterification reaction is carried
out by reacting terephthalic acid, a unbranched alcohol and a branched alcohol using
an acid catalyst at 130 to 250°C for 1 to 10 hours.
9. The method according to claim 1, wherein the unbranched alcohol comprises 1
to 80% by weight of a unbranched aliphatic alcohol having a C3-C4 alkyl group,
with respect to 100% by weight of the alcohol.
10. The method according to claim 1, wherein the branched alcohol comprises 99
to 20% by weight of a branched aliphatic alcohol having a C8-C10 alkyl group, with
respect to 100% by weight of the alcohol.
11. The method according to claim 1, wherein, regarding the terephthalic acid, the
unbranched alcohol and the branched alcohol, an amount of the terephthalic acid used
is 10 to 40 mol%, and a sum amount of the unbranched alcohol and the branched
alcohol used is 90 to 60 mol%, with respect to a sum of moles of the reactants.
12. The method according to claim 3, wherein the acid catalyst comprises at least
one selected from paratoluenesulfonic acid, methanesulfonic acid, ethanesulfonic acid,
propanesulfonic acid and sulfuric acid.

13. A resin composition comprising the ester composition prepared by the method
according to any one of claims 1 to 12 and a resin.
14. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the resin composition
has an absorption rate of 1 to 10 minutes.
15. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the resin composition
has a sol viscosity of 4,000 to 13,000 cp.
16. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the resin comprises at
least one selected from ethylene vinyl acetate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl
chloride, polystyrene, polyurethane, thermoplastic elastomers and polylactic acid.
17. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the ester composition is
present in an amount of 5 to 150 parts by weight, with respect to 100 parts by weight
of the resin.
18. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the resin composition
further comprises a filler.
19. The resin composition according to claim 13, wherein the resin composition
further comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a stabilizing agent,
a lubricant, a pigment, a dye, a processing aid, a dispersant, a foaming agent, an
antifoaming agent and a viscosity depressant.
