Method For Producing Xylooligosaccharide Composition
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition, the method including filtering a sugar liquid containing a xylooligosaccharide(s) at least including xylobiose, as well as glucose and xylose, through a polyamide separation membrane having a molecular weight cutoff within the range of from 300 to 1,000, to selectively concentrate the xylooligosaccharide(s) on the feed side.

Specification
WE CLAIM:
1. A method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition, the method comprising the step of filtering a sugar liquid containing: a xylooligosaccharide(s) at least including xylobiose; and monosaccharides including glucose and xylose, through a polyamide separation membrane having a molecular weight cutoff within the range of from 300 to 1,000, to selectively concentrate the xylooligosaccharide(s) on the feed side.
2. The method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition according to claim 1, wherein the polyamide separation membrane has a molecular weight cutoff within the range of from 300 to 500.
3. The method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the sugar liquid is obtained by subjecting a biomass containing xylan and cellulose to a hydrolysis treatment.
4. The method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition according to claim 3, wherein the biomass containing xylan and cellulose is bagasse.
5. The method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the filtration using the polyamide separation membrane is carried out adjusting the temperature of the sugar liquid to 50°C or lower.
6. The method of producing a xylooligosaccharide composition according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the method comprises, as a pre-step of the filtering step using the polyamide separation membrane, a step of filtering the sugar liquid through
a separation membrane having a molecular weight cutoff within the range of from 2,000 to 100,000.
