Abstract: In a technology for improving iron loss of a directional electromagnetic steel plate moving in the rolling direction at a speed Vl by performing scanning irradiation with a laser beam of elliptical spot in the plate width direction at a speed Vc, the angle θs between the scanning direction of the elliptical beam and the long axis of the ellipse is regulated based on an expression θs=tan-(Vl/Vc).
