Abstract: Provided is a method for reusing an active material by recovering same from positive electrode scrap. A method for reusing a positive electrode active material according to the present invention comprises the steps of: (a-1) immersing positive electrode scrap, including a lithium composite transition metal oxide positive electrode active material layer on a current collector, in a basic aqueous solution to separate the active material layer from the current collector; (a-2) recovering the active material in the active material layer by thermally decomposing a binder and a conductive material in the active material layer through in-air heat treatment of the active material layer; (b) washing the recovered active material with an aqueous lithium compound solution that exhibits basicity in an aqueous solution state, and drying the washed active material; and (c) adding a lithium precursor to the washed active material and annealing the resultant mixture to obtain a reusable active material.
