Specification

Description of the invention
The Central Pillar Mechanism consists of a central pillar made with RDE 40 Aluminium Alloy material comprising of tapering top and bottom modules (5.6 mtrs. each) with interconnection. The length of this central pillar can be extended with further addition of middle modules as per site requirement. This central pillar when used without the middle modules keeps floating with the help of motorized winch, tirfors, single sheave pulleys, wire ropes etc. to lift the pre-assembled panel sections of hot dip galvanized tower sections. This can also be used as fixed type central pillar with the addition of 3 to 4 middle modules of length 6 mtrs. each. This system also consists of a bottom assembly to seat the central pillar on the ground and a top crane with pin and hinge mechanism enabling its movement/rotation in 360 degrees. It is capable of lifting a weight of 1 MT at a time.
Background
In India, tower erection in high voltage transmission lines is being done by manual erection method using pipe derricks, pulleys, etc. This method is found to be very slow being manpower oriented and hence Tata Projects Ltd., one of the major players in transmission line industry, in an attempt to find a more mechanized system reducing the involvement of manpower for tower erection, found an innovative technique for the purpose. That is how Central Pillar Mechanism is born.
Basically, this system involves in lifting the pre-assembled panel sections of towers with the help of a central pillar which is of floating / fixed type (optional) by using a motorized winch and a top crane assembly consisting of pulleys, etc. These transmission towers are self supporting from legged lattice type structures duly hot dip galvanized.

utility value of the invention
The usage of proposed system has got the following advantages :
(i) Being light in weight, it is easy to handle, operate and transport.
(ii) A saving of about 20% in time taken for erecting the tower.
(iii) A saving of about 40% in man-days required for erection of
tower, (iv) Exposure to risk is minimized in view of less manpower on the
tower during erection and hence a safer technique, (v) An overall saving of about 30% in cost of tower erection, (vi) Being non-corrosive, the longevity of this mechanism is much
more than the normal traditional pipe derrick system, (vii) No maintenance cost when compared to that of the traditional
system, (viii) It is user-friendly and different from the existing system.
Inventive steps in the art / technology, which can be claimed for Novelty
• Different in technology
• Light weight, corrosion free RDE-40 Aluminium Alloy is used in place of MS Pipe Derricks, which are the main components in the existing system being used in tower erection.
• This is self floating type without the involvement of the manual movement of the system.
• The central pillar can be inclined and rotated in 360 degrees.

We claim,
1. A method of erection of tower using central pillar mechanism
comprises a pillar centrally fixed before the erection of the tower and
wherein the central pillar is used as a support to fix the tower and the
same is used to supply the material to the top for erection of the tower.
2. A method of erection of tower using central pillar mechanism according
to claim 1, wherein the tower is of single pillar and has a rotating
instrument to supply the material for construction of the tower.
3. A method of erection of tower using central pillar mechanism according
to claim 1, wherein the rotating type instrument is connected to a crane
to move up and down wards to lift any material.
4. A method of erection of tower using central pillar mechanism as herein
described with particular reference to description and diagrams.
