The invention describes the Methodology to achieve Interchangeability of pipe assemblies on Light Combat Aircraft - Tejas

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

Light Combat Aircrafts involves Pipe assys which are routed throughout the aircraft to control various systems. All these pipe assys have to meet Interchangeability from aircraft to aircraft. Pipe assy jigs alone are not sufficient to address Interchangeability.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

Concept of Individual Pipe Assy jigs, Drill Templates and Mock up jig will ensure interchangeability of pipe assys without any stack-up errors. Pipe assys can be checked collectively on mock-up jigs prior to the final installation. Drill template concept will ensure the proper installation of brackets/attachments for mounting pipe assys.

PROCESS DETAIL DESCRIPTION

Methodology to achieve Interchangeability of pipe assemblies

a) Drill Templates are designed as per Fig-1, for mounting of Brackets/attachments pertaining to pipe assys. This will ensure the proper location of bracket assemblies with specified tolerances.

b) Pipe Assy jigs are designed as per Fig-2, for fabrication of Pipe assys individually. This will ensure the orientation of the the end fittings, shape and length of the pipe assembly.

c) Mock-up Jigs are designed as per Fig-3, to ensure the proper alignment and avoid stack-up errors. With the help of mock-up jigs, individual pipe assys can be verified before installation.
