Methodology For Rationalization Of Standard Parts In Light Combat Aircraft

Abstract: This invention is intended for creation of rationalized standard part numbers in Light Combat Aircraft, It is observed that there was a critical shortage of standard parts in assembly shop since stock is maintained in more one inventory part number for the same standard part. Hence monitoring and accountability of standard parts is difficult to meet the required production schedule. To resolve this issue a detailed study and analysis was carried out for rationalization of standard parts. Rationalized standard part inventories are created and implemented in the process sheets for the successful monitory of inventory level as well as to ensure smooth flow of production.

The invention describes Rationalized methods of calling/creating the inventories for standard parts of Light combat aircraft.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The inventory level of standard parts available in stores for LCA Tejas aircraft is difficult to monitor since the same standard parts stock is maintained in more than one inventory part number. In order to monitor the inventory level of the standard part, there is a need to rationalize the standard parts number. This helps to have complete accountability and enable to take suitable procurement action as per the production schedule. This will ensure the availability of required standard parts at the right time.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

Rationalized inventory part number is created for monitoring the inventory level of standard parts in the warehouse and also helps in taking the correct future procurement action. This helps main in avoiding duplication of more than one inventory part number and gives complete accountability of standard parts.

METHODOLOGY WITH ILLUSTRATION

Method of calling/creating inventory as per standard.

Model 1:

A split pin of nominal size 5, nominal length 50 mm and made of steel, shall be specified as:

Split Pin 5X50-IS: 549

Model 2:

A split pin of nominal size 10, nominal length 80 mm and made of brass, shall be specified as:
Split Pin 10 X 80 - IS : 549 - Brass

Model 3:

A countersunk bolt of shank dia d1=10mm, length li =45 mm and made of CM. steel, shall be specified as:
10x45 HS1001

Model 4:

A countersunk bolt of shank dia di=10mm, length li =45 mm with locking pin hole and made of CM. steel, shall be specified as: 10x45S HS1001

Rationalized method of calling/creating inventory

Model 1:

A split pin of nominal size 5, nominal length 50 mm and made of steel, shall be designated as:
IS:549-05.0-050

Model 2:

A split pin of nominal size 10, nominal length 80 mm and made of brass, shall be designated as:

IS:549BRASS-10.0-080 Model 3:

A countersunk bolt of shank dia di=10mm, length li =45 mm and made of CM. steel, shall be specified as:

HS1001-10-045 Model 4:

A countersunk bolt of shank dia di=10mm, length li =45 mm with locking pin hole and made of CM. steel, shall be specified as: HS1001C-10-45S

PROCESS DETAIL DESCRIPTION

Processes to be carried out for Rationalization are stated as below:

1. Identify the standard in the part number.

2. Identify the nominal size (like diameter, length etc. if any) in the part number.

3. Identify the configuration such as provision for split pin, wire lock hole etc. if any in the part number.

4. Identify the material specification of standard part

5. Create the rationalized inventory part number with suffix as Standard followed by material, nominal diameter, nominal length and configuration.

We claim that a systematic procedure to create and specify a rationalized standard part number involved in Light Combat Aircraft.
