Methods, Systems, And Networks For Authentication Based On Physical Characteristics Of A Card

Abstract: The disclosed subject matter includes methods, systems, and networks for authentication based on physical characteristics of a payment card. A computer- implemented method performed by a payment network includes receiving an image of a part of a payment card from an image capturing device that communicates with the payment network. The computer-implemented method may also include comparing a physical condition of the part of the payment card shown in the received image to the physical condition of the part of the payment card shown a stored image. In addition, the computer-implemented method may include authenticating or declining a transaction based on the comparison of the physical condition of the part of the payment card in the received image and the stored image.
