Details of invention

[0044] Spraying on fruit orchards such as mango, litchi, etc has remained an expensive and tedious task for the farmers as farmers need to do spraying regularly to prevent pest attacks on the fruits and subsequent loss due to crop failure if spraying is not done on time. Contemporarily, spraying in the orchard is being done by tractor-propelled spray machines and other engine powered spray machines which run on fossil fuels. Spraying done by these fossil fuel powered machines is very expensive for the farmers due to the cost of the fuel, engine maintenance, rent and wastage of insecticides and pesticides done by these machines.
[0045] The battery powered back pack spray machine or portable spray machine in current practice by the farmers doesn’t generate enough pressure for spraying in orchards or long crops. Also, due to lower pressure and lower flow rate on these battery powered machines currently in practice, spraying is a very time-consuming activity as these machines are unable to deliver high pressure fluid to a longer distance on the farm. So, farmer needs to move these machines multiple times to different locations on the farm to complete the spraying activity as longer conduits can’t be attached with these low pressure and low flow rate machines in practice.
[0046] Some famers use gator spray machine or rocker spray machine where an extra person is required to pull and push the plunger regularly in the cylinder to generate the high pressure required for spraying. Also, these manual rocker sprayer machine whether foot held or hand held doesn’t generate the pressure required for spray range or height required for spraying on tall trees such as mango apart from being labour intensive.
[0047] Recently, drones are also being used for spraying of pesticides and insecticides on the crops. But, these drones have limitation of spraying from top of the tree or crops. Therefore, drones are not capable of spraying below the leaves as pests can also remain attached on the bottom portion of leaves. Hence, drones are not effective for thorough spraying on fruit trees or other crops.

[0048] Therefore, a need exists in the field for a multipurpose battery powered heavy duty portable spray machine with day-long running time on single charge and capable of generating high pressure and larger flow rate for quicker and cost-effective spraying in the fruit orchards or other crops. Also, there shall be a mechanism for adjusting the pressure and flow rate for spraying on different crops.

[0049] The present invention relates to a novel multipurpose battery powered heavy duty spray machine with long battery backup , collapsible trolley design to reduce the human effort, labour cost and drudgery in carrying the spray machine with fluid tank to different sections of farm for spraying and four motors in parallel combination to generate high pressure selectively with four different switches for operating these four motors for desired pressure and flow rate required for spraying on the fruits such as mango, litchi, guava , vegetables and other crops.

[0050] More particularly, this invention relates to a spray machine with two small double motor diaphragm pumps with high pressure auto cut feature connected in parallel combination with a Y shaped connector to reduce the pressure loss and power consumption during combining the high-pressure discharges from the two double motor diaphragm pumps to a single higher pressure and higher flow rate discharge required for spraying on fruits, vegetables or other crops.

[0051] There are four different switches on the spray machine for selective switching of the four motors to generate the required pressure. The more motors are switched on, more is the pressure and flow rate on the discharge pipe. There is an arrangement for mounting a high storage larger battery on the spray machine with battery clamp for day-long operation of the spray machine. As, there are two double motor diaphragm pumps in the spray machine, therefore there are two suctions with suction pipe with filter attached on the end of the hose to prevent ingress of dirt or larger particles leading to blockage of the pump.

[0052] The present invention will now be described by referencing the appended figures representing preferred embodiments. Figure 1 and Figure 2 depicts the construction of the spray machine with trolley attachment. As shown in Figure 1, the spray machine consists of a two double motor diaphragm pumps (8) with high pressure auto cut feature, sucking fluid from two separate dedicated suctions and two separate discharges from the pumps combining into a single high-pressure discharge using a Y shaped connector (2) in Figure 1.

[0053] The four switches on the spray machine (4) as shown in Figure 1, is used for operating four different motors on the spray machine. The more motors are switched on the spray machine higher is the flow rate and pressure on the discharge side. Also, the discharge pipe can be extended upto a long distance due to higher pressure generated on the spray machine using the pumps in parallel combination. The discharge pipe from the machine is connected to a suitable spray gun with an adjustable nozzle opening to facilitate formation of mist or different patterns of fluid ejection from the nozzle on the spray gun suitable for spraying on different crops. Also, the motor automatically switches off upon closing the nozzle of the spray gun due to pressure auto cut feature on the pump due to adjustable pressure cutoff sensor attached on the pump.

[0054] The two double motor diaphragm pumps with small motors in parallel combination is used on the spray machine instead of a single high pressure pump because not always high pressure is required. So, there is a choice to the user for selecting the pressure range by switching on the different motors leading to a longer battery backup and working hours of the spray machine. Also, as there are two discharges from the spray machine, two different long discharge pipes with two spray guns can be used in the machine allowing spraying by two persons leading to faster spraying when lesser pressure is required for the crops.

[0055] There is a specific process to remove air from the two double motor pumps in which firstly, two switches with a double motor pump for one suction and discharge is switched on, to remove the air from the conduit on one side. Next, other two switches dedicated to the double motor pump for another suction and discharge side is switched on to remove the air from other conduit. Once, air is removed from both the suctions all four switches can be switched on operating all four motors leading to higher pressure on the single combined discharge conduit (1) as shown in Figure 1.

[0056] The spray machine can be mounted on the trolley using trolley mounting flange inbuilt on the spray machine as shown in Figure 4.

[0057] In this arrangement, the strength of the spray machine is such that a tank with 60-70 kgs. weight can be tied on the spray machine for carrying the spray liquid in the field.

[0058] Although this invention has been described in specific detail with reference to the disclosed embodiments, it will be understood that many variations and modifications may be affected within the spirit and scope of the inventions as described in the appended claims.

Working of invention

[0059] The method for working of the collapsible battery-powered high-pressure spray machine includes the steps: removing the air from the two double-motor pumps (8) by first switching on the two switches (4) with a double-motor pump for one suction and discharge, to remove the air from the conduit on one side; followed by the switching on the other two switches (4) to the double motor pump for another suction and discharge side, removing the air from the conduit on the other side; after removing air from both the suction, adjusting the pressure and flow rate on the discharge pipe (7) according to the requirement by switching on the number of motors of the two double-motor diaphragm (8), thereby generating desired flow in the single combined high-pressure delivery pipe (1); Spraying the fluid under required pressure in the high-pressure delivery pipe (1) by a suitable spray gun with an adjustable nozzle facilitating the formation of mist or different patterns of fluid ejection.
