Abstract: The present disclosure provides a micellar preparation encapsulating kaempferol which exhibits enhanced bioavailability in contrast to kaempferol alone. Also provided in the instant disclosure is method of preparation of the same, and potential uses.

Specification

Claims:1. A method of preparing micelles or clusters thereof encapsulating kaempferol, said method comprising:
a. contacting kaempferol, L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine, at least one surfactant, and polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30 in the presence of at least one organic solvent to obtain a mixture;
b. sonicating said mixture to obtain a solution;
c. evaporating said at least one organic solvent from said solution at a temperature in the range of 40-60°C to obtain film of micelles or clusters thereof encapsulating kaempferol; and
d. contacting said film with water to obtain a solution of micelles or clusters thereof encapsulating kaempferol.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said surfactant is selected from the group consisting of sodium deoxycholate, sodium cholate, and combinations thereof.

3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of ethanol, chloroform, methanol, tertiary butanol, trimethylamine, diethyl ether, dichloromethane, trichloromethane, and cyclohexane.

The method as claimed in any of the claims 1-3, wherein L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine weight percentage in said mixture is in the range of 1.5-2%, surfactant weight percentage in said mixture is in the range of 1.25-1.5%, polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30 weight percentage in said mixture is in the range of 1.25-1.5%, and kaempferol weight percentage in said mixture is in the range of 0.5-2%.

5. Micelles or clusters thereof encapsulating at least one active ingredient, wherein
a. the at least one active ingredient is kaempferol encapsulated in the micelles; and
b. the micelles comprise:
i. L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine;
ii. at least one surfactant; and
iii. polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30.

6. The micelles or clusters thereof as claimed in claim 5, wherein said at least one surfactant is selected from the group consisting of sodium deoxycholate, sodium cholate, and combinations thereof.

7. The micelles or clusters thereof as claimed in any of the claims 5-6, wherein said surfactant to polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30 w/w ratio in said micelle is in the range of 1:0.83-1:1.2, and said surfactant to L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine w/w ratio in said micelle is in the range of 1:1-1:1.6.

8. The micelles or clusters thereof as claimed in claim 7, wherein surfactant to polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30 w/w ratio in said micelle is 1:1, and surfactant to L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine w/w ratio in said micelle is 1:1.33.

9. The micelles or clusters thereof as claimed in claim 7, wherein surfactant to polyvinylpyrrolidone K 30 w/w ratio in said micelle is 1:1, and surfactant to L-a-lysophosphatidylcholine w/w ratio in said micelle is 1:0.83.

10. A method of increasing kaempferol bioavailability in cells, said method comprising:
a. obtaining micelles or clusters thereof as claimed in any of the claims 5-9; and
b. contacting said micelles or clusters thereof with cells,
wherein said method increases kaempferol bioavailability in cells.

11. The method as claimed in claim 10, wherein said micelles are prepared by a method as claimed in any of the claims 1-4.
