Abstract: Milling fixture is used to hold the work piece for milling in a manner to ensure that the work piece is properly positioned through butting & rigidly clamped on the fixture so that all the required parameters & dimensions are achieved, within tolerances, as per Machining drawing of work piece, during milling. Clamping of the work piece is rigid enough to neutralize all cutting forces and ensure no vibration in the work piece during milling.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the apparatus for milling of work piece.
Milling fixture is used on to hold the work piece in such a manner that all
10 reference surfaces given on work piece are properly positioned on the milling
fixture by butting the work piece surface to protect the x - y movement for
machining of the work piece .
.
15 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Invention of this type of milling fixture is required to position the work piece
on milling fixture, taking reference given on work piece, to hold the proper
position on milling fixture, to maintain all required geometrical parameter &
20 dimension after milling the work piece from reference surfaces given on work
piece.
SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
25 In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a milling
fixture that facilitates proper positioning of the work piece & rigid clamping of
work piece during milling operation.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide
effective positioning of work piece on fixture through proper butting of datum
30 surfaces provided on work piece.
Annexure‐II
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide
proper holding of work piece.
In 5 accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide
rigid clamping of work piece at five points.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide
the support of the work piece at two positions by special Allen screw to avoid the
vibration & rocking during milling operation on the work piece.
10 In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide
dialing face on Base plate to properly position the milling fixture when fixing on
machine bed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
25
Referring to fig.-1, fig.-2 & fig.-3, present invention is a milling fixture 11
adopted for use on CNC M/c.
Annexure‐II
The milling fixture 11 is designed to hold the work piece 12, well
positioned through butting the surfaces given on work piece 12 & rigidly for
milling operation of work piece 12.
Milling fixture 11 comprises of Base plate 1 having 5 a substantially flat top
surface A and bottom surface B. Both surfaces are parallel within 0.20 mm. Base
plate 1 is made of mild steel. Surface B of Base plate 1 rests on the machine
bed & is clamped to Base plate 1 through 4-C’ bore holes 13 made in Base plate
1 on machine bed surface C.
10 Guide Pins 5 (Standard Dowel Pin) is fixed on the surface A of Base plate
1. Guide pins position the work piece 12 and restrict the motion of the work piece
12 in the direction x – y.
Special Allen Screw 4 (Standard Allen Screw) is fixed on the surface A of
Base plate 1. Special Allen screw supports the work piece 12 at two positions to
15 avoid the vibration & rocking on the work piece 12 during milling operation.
Clamps 2 & 3, made of mild steel, rigidly clamp the work piece 12 at five
positions to protect the movement of the work piece 12 during milling operation.
Dialing face D in Base plate 1 is used as a datum for the manufacturing of
milling fixture 11 to maintain the position of all the items as described above &
20 this dialing face C is also used to position the milling fixture 11 when fixing on
machine bed.
WE CLAIMS:-
