Abstract: A system and method for learning different foreign languages are disclosed. The components of the present invention include a mobile phone with an active internet connection or a Wi-Fi connection, a mobile application having features including virtual assistant feature, voice recognition feature and a database. The method of the present invention includes registration of the user with the mobile application post installation in the mobile phone followed by setting up the preferred language of conversion i.e. from language A to language B; providing input the words or sentences through the language A which are recognized and converted by the mobile application and the audio output is provided in language B
Claims:We Claim:
1. A system for learning different foreign languages comprising:
a. a mobile phone with an active internet connection or a Wi-Fi connection;
b. a mobile application having features including virtual assistant feature, voice recognition feature; and
c. a database;
wherein, the mobile application is installed in the mobile phone using the internet or Wi-Fi; the language input by the user is converted to the preferred language by the mobile application with the help of the data present in the database and the output is delivered to the user in the form of an audio speech.
2. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the mobile application includes a voice recognition feature which recognizes the voice of the user to collect the input in the language set by the user.
3. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the voice recognition software which can recognize the voice of the user, which are then converted to text form which is used for search and conversion of one language to other.
4. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the mobile application is linked directly to a database which contains translations of the words and sentences from one language to another.
5. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the database is continuously updated with the new words and sentences through the internet or Wi-Fi.
6. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the user can select the preferred language for conversion and the mobile application converts the words and sentences which are spelled by the user to the preferred language.
7. A system as claimed in claim 1 wherein, the virtual assistant of the present invention spells the words or sentences in the preferred language, which can be heard as an audio output by the user.
8. The method of operation of the mobile application comprising:
a. installation of the mobile application for learning languages in the mobile phone with the help of the internet or Wi-Fi;
b. registration of the user with the mobile application to create a user ID and a password for access in the future;
c. selection the language to be learned by the user i.e. language B and the input language i.e. language A.
d. providing input to the mobile application in the language A in the form of audio which is recognized by the voice recognition feature in the mobile application;
e. conversion of the input in language A to language B using the data present in the database; and
f. delivery of the output in the language B which his generated by the mobile application in the form of an audio speech which can be heard by the user.
, Description:Technical field of the Invention:
The present invention generally relates to a language learning application, and, more particularly, to a method and system for assisting the users in learning various languages using mobile application.
Background and prior art:
In recent years, the need for knowing more than one language has become an intrinsic part of life, which has a lot of impact on one’s career. Knowing more than one languages or multilingualism has become more than just important and is believed to be extremely beneficial, in financial or social aspect, which allows one to communicate in a foreign language which helps to make a real connection with people and provides a better understanding of their language.
Learning a foreign language at primary school has become a growing trend in many countries in the world. The foreign language learning in childhood has several advantages, which includes easy and fast learning i.e. young children learn a language faster as they are curious and enthusiastic to explore and learn new words and sentences. Also, the young children pick up the pronunciation better and remember it better. In addition to this, a foreign language helps children have better education and job opportunities in the future.
The main issue which is associated with the learning of the foreign language is that, the language can be learned quickly and more efficiently if the teacher who is teaching the language is well versed in it. In India, every school which teaches the foreign language cannot afford to hire a foreign national for the job, instead, they have to rely on the teachers who have learned the foreign language to teach the students. The complete learning is not possible if the children do not learn exact pronunciation and meaning of the words, which makes inefficient leaning of the languages.
Another way of learning the foreign language at any place and any time is made possible with the help of the mobile phone and the internet. The internet facility can be used through mobile phones in order to search and learn different words and their respective meanings in different languages. In the past decade, the use of mobile phones by younger children of small age group has drastically increased, which provides indefinite access to a whole lot of information about different languages.
Though mobile phones are an effective mode of learning, there are many adverse side effects of mobile phone usage for a longer period of times. Mobile technology is one of the most attractive technologies which has provided a revolutionary approach to education in the context of learning different languages. In recent times mobile devices have been steadily incorporated into learning languages and this extensive use of mobile devices has led to the origin of different ways of learning.
As there is no efficient method of using the mobile phones with advanced technologies like speech recognition, in the learning of languages in the primary schools, the present invention is aimed at providing a method for the same.
Objectives of the invention:
The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a system for learning different foreign languages.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a system for learning different foreign languages using a mobile application, and a virtual assistant.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a system for learning different foreign languages, which is a part of the study material in primary and secondary schools.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a system for learning different foreign languages using a virtual assistant where the input can be provided in English language and the output can be obtained in the language which the child is willing to learn.
Summary of the invention:
The present invention discloses a system and method for learning different foreign languages. The components of the present invention include a mobile phone with an active internet connection or a Wi-Fi connection, a mobile application having features including virtual assistant feature, voice recognition feature and a database.
The present invention discloses a system and method for learning different foreign languages, where the mobile phone is installed with the mobile application with the help of the internet or Wi-Fi prior to usage. The mobile application is linked directly to a database which contains translations of the words and sentences from one language to another.
According to the present invention, the method involved in the present invention comprises of installation of the mobile application in the smartphone using the internet connection or Wi-Fi connection; register the user with the mobile application to create user ID and password for account creation; set the preferred language of conversion i.e. from language A to language B; input the words or sentences through the language A; recognition of the words or sentences by the speech recognition software; conversion of the words or sentences from the language A to language B by mobile application; providing language B output of language A input, in the form of audio by the virtual assistant feature of the mobile application for the user to learn the language.

Detailed description of the invention
The present invention discloses a system and method for learning different foreign languages. The components of the present invention include a mobile phone with an active internet connection or a Wi-Fi connection, a mobile application having features including virtual assistant feature, voice recognition feature and a database.
FIG 1 illustrates the schematic representation of the method employed for learning a foreign language using the mobile application. Referring to FIG 1, the mobile phone is installed with the mobile application with the help of the internet or Wi-Fi prior to usage. The user would have to register themselves with the mobile application using a user ID and a password for access in future. Post registration the user would have to select the language which they prefer to learn i.e. language B and the input language i.e. language A. The input is provided to the mobile application in the language A which is recognized by the voice recognition feature in the mobile application and the input is converted to the language B. The output in the language B which his generated by the mobile application is delivered in the form of an audio speech which can be heard by the user.
According to the present invention, the mobile application is linked directly to a database which contains translations of the words and sentences from one language to another. The database is continuously updated with new words and sentences. The voice recognition feature of the present invention is used to recognize the voice of the user and read the words spelled by the user. The mobile application of the present invention is initially set to a preferred language for conversion and it converts the words and sentences which are spelled by the user to the preferred language and virtual assistant of the present invention spells the words or sentences in the preferred language, which can be heard as an audio output by the user.
The present invention uses voice recognition software which can recognize the voice of the user, which are then converted to text form. The primary advantage of using the voice recognition feature is that the text which is converted into the preferred foreign language can be heard by the user through the virtual assistant which has a greater accuracy around context and content. The voice recognition feature in enhanced by the artificial intelligence behind it, which makes the feature to operate better in handling and recognizing different accents and background noise, to provide an accurate output.
According to the present invention, mobile phones have easy access to the internet, and irrespective of time and place, one can use the mobile phone for carrying out any task. The mobile application of the present invention can be used to teach a foreign language to the students, which is a part of their curriculum. As the words, spellings, and pronunciations are perfect in the mobile application, the students can listen, see and learn in a faster pace than compared to the classroom teaching, where pronunciations vary from person to person. The features of mobile technology such as the portability and information accessibility play a major role in the enhancement of language learning aspect.
According to the present invention, the learning of different foreign languages using the mobile application enables the students to learn more than one language at a faster pace, in less amount of time, with near perfection. Apart from the foreign languages which are part of the curriculum, the students can opt to learn various other languages using the mobile application.
Additionally, the mobile application can also be installed in various other electronic devices including personal digital assistant (PDA), iPad, tablets, laptops etc., the schools can also create and personalize their own database, based on the syllabus of the year and help the students to learn the language. As students are the primary learners, the interactive way of learning different foreign languages is a highly efficient way of teaching, as they can easily remember it for a longer time.
There are several benefits of the present invention which includes:
a. An easy and interactive way of learning;
b. Easy and inexpensive access to different foreign languages;
c. Availability of the study material to learn the languages round the clock;
d. An alternate mode of learning along with the classroom learning;
