WE CLAIM:
1. A communication system which uses an Orthogonal Frequency Division
Multiplexing, OFDM method as a downlink access method from a base station to a
mobile terminal (101), and also uses Single Career Frequency Division Multiple Access,
SC-FDMA, method as an uplink access method from the mobile terminal (101) to the
base station, and which can transmit broadcast type data for providing an Multimedia
Broadcast Multicast Service, MBMS which is a point-to-multipoint broadcast
communication service to a mobile terminal (101) and can also transmit point-to-point
dedicated communication data to said mobile terminal (101), wherein said
communication system has three types of cells including a unicast cell (102-1) to and
from which a mobile terminal (101) can transmit and receive said dedicated
communication data, MBMS dedicated cell (102-3) from which said mobile terminal
(101) can receive said broadcast type data, but to and from which said mobile terminal
(101) cannot transmit and receive said dedicated communication data, and a
unicast/MEMS-mixed cell (102-2) which can provide both a service provided by said
unicast cell (102-1) and a service provided by said MBMS dedicated cell (102-3),
characterized in that
while receiving said broadcast type data transmitted from said MBMS dedicated cell (102-3), said mobile terminal (101) is adapted to make a notification of an MBMS receiving state via said unicast cell (102-1) or said unicast/MBMS-mixed cell (102-2) and adapted to transmit information for identifying said MBMS dedicated cell (102-3) which is transmitting said broadcast type data that said mobile terminal (101) is receiving, and said communication system is adapted to transmit a paging signal, from the MBMS dedicated cell (102-2), destined for said mobile terminal currently receiving said broadcast type data transmitted from said MBMS dedicated cell (102-3) on a basis of a tracking area (Tracking Area) in which said mobile terminal (101) is tracked, the tracking area being determined on a basis of the information transmitted from said mobile terminal (101).
2. The communication system according to claim 1, wherein the paging signal is
transmitted via a multicast control channel (MCCH) which is provided in a downlink
direction from a base station (102) to the mobile terminal (101) in the MBMS dedicated

cell (102-3), and which is used to transmit control information for controlling a receiving process of said mobile terminal (101).
3. The communication system according to claim 2, wherein the multicast control channel (MCCH) includes an indicator for making a distinction between presence and absence of the paging signal, and an indicator for making a distinction between presence and absence of the control information.
