Abstract: The present invention discloses a modified tower bolt/latch that is very easy to unlatch. The inventors have provided a metallic clip that is fixed on one of the locking side of the slider bar knob of the tower bolt. When the user bends the slider bar knob toward left or right side for locking. The metallic clip is presses due to the movement of slider bar knob. So the metallic clip comes in between the slider bar knob and side where knob locks. To open or to rotate back the slider bar knob back to central position the user need to put pressure on metallic clip as it is done while removing cloths form the rope. As the metallic clip is pressed the slider bar knob of the tower bolt returns to the central position. Hence the slider bar is easily pulled down for unlatching.
FIELD OF INVENTION The present invention relates to tower bolt/ latch device for door or window. More specifically the present invention is directed towards a modified tower bolt/ latch.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 5
There is necessity to lock door or window using some kind of latch/lock. Different types of lock/latch are used as per requirement. Some Lock/latch used for bolting door or windows are deadbolt latch, spring latches, slam latch, Cam lock, Norfolk latch, Suffolk latch, Cabin hook etc.
Tower bolt is also a one type of latch/lock that is commonly used in every household for latching the door or window. Tower bolt is also known as “shoot bolt” and even said as simple latch. It 10 comprises a slider housing, a slider bar, which slides inside said housing, an actuating knob fitted on said sliding bar. The conventional tower bolt consists of a slider housing in which a slider bar is inserted. The slider bar is bent around for approximately 90° to be connected to a knob for actuating it. The slider housing is mounted on the door or window in which the slider bar slides to bolt or unbolt the door/window. 15
Reference: Indian Patent No: 1020/DEL/2002 (Granted Application, Patent Number: 196790)
The inventors of the present invention have developed a modified tower bolt/latch. The inventors have used the mechanism of clip for its easy operation by rotating the knob of the slider bar of tower bolt to its actual unlocking position that makes it very convenient to unlatch the tower bolt.
Problems in existing mechanisms 20
The existing tower bolts that are fixed on door or window sometimes tend to jam if not used for long time, as in locked position the slider knob is bent right or left. So the user needs to put heavy effort for bringing the bent knob to the central position.
To set the knob back to central position sometimes heavy force is applied that leads to damaging of the knob and it becomes very difficult to rotate the slider bar of the tower bolt. So only option 25 left to user is to replace it.
3
There is another problem that children cannot unlock the tower bolt when it is in central position but it is difficult to bring the bent knob to the central position for them. Children can lock tin the room or may hurt themselves while unlocking the tower bolt.
Innovative approach proposed by the inventor
The inventors of the present invention have developed a modified tower bolt. Inventors have 5 removed the above mentioned problems by providing a hard metallic clip on one of the side of slider knob. So that when user wants to bring slider bar to central position in jammed condition, one can easily do it by pressing the clip. By using this metallic clip very less effort is required to uplift the slider bar from side without damaging the tower bolt. Hence, even elderly person or even children can easily unlock the tower bolt. 10

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to disclose a modified tower bolt/latch for door/window 5 that is very easy to unlatch.
Another object of the present invention is to disclose a modified tower bolt/ latch for door/window which is not jamming while in operation.
Yet another object of the invention is to provide a tower bolt/latch device for door/window which is easy to handle by the user such as elderly/ handicapped person. 10
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses a modified tower bolt/latch that is very easy to unlatch. The inventors have provided a metallic clip that is fixed on one of the locking side of the slider bar knob of the tower bolt. When the user bends the slider bar knob toward left or right side for locking. 15 The metallic clip is pressed due to the movement of the slider bar knob. So the metallic clip comes in between the slider bar knob and side where knob locks. To open or to rotate back the slider bar knob back to central position the user needs to put pressure on metallic clip as it is done while removing cloths from the rope. As the metallic clip is pressed the slider bar knob of the tower bolt returns to the central position. Hence the slider bar is easily pulled down for unlatching. 20

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The following description is of the best-contemplated mode of carrying out the invention.
The description is made for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention and 15 should not be taken in a limiting sense.
The present invention discloses a modified tower bolt/latch for door/window that makes the operation of unlatching the tower bolt simpler. The tower bolt comprises of a slider housing (1) in which the slider bar (2) slides. Slider bar (2) has two positions “UP” and “DOWN”. Slider bar (2) 20 is slided upward for latching/locking the door/window. After sliding it up the slider bar knob (3) is bent toward left or right so that it does not unlatch/unlock when door/window is jerked. So sometimes it tends to jam if not used for long time. Heavy effort is required to bring back the slider bar knob (3) to central position, being small in size one cannot grip the slider bar knob (3) comfortably. To bring back the slider bar knob (3) back to central position a metallic clip (4) is 25 provided on one of the locking side of the slider bar (2). The Metallic clip is pressed that pushes the slide bar knob upwards (4) which provide user a good grip on the knob. Hence slider bar (2)
7
can be easily slide down for unlatching/unlocking. So, the inventors have designed and developed a mechanism for easy operation via modified tower bolt.
Novelty, Inventive Step and Industrial Application
Novelty
The novelty of the present invention lies in developing a modified tower bolt/latch. The existing 5 tower bolt/latch tends to jam after prolonged use and it becomes very difficult to rotate the slider bar knob of the tower bolt for unlatching it. So the inventors thought of providing a mechanism for reducing the effort required for rotating the slider bar knob. So that it can be easily moved to central position and is pulled down for unlatching it.
Inventive step 10
The inventors of the present invention have developed a modified tower bolt/latch for its easy operation. The inventors have fixed a hard metallic clip on one of the side of slider knob so that when user wants to bring slider bar back to central position in jammed condition, one can easily do it by pressing the clip. By using this metallic clip very less effort is required to uplift the slider bar from side and even without damaging the tower bolt slider bar. Hence the mechanism is very 15 simple and will solve the problem of stuck tower bolts.
Industrial application The present invention finds huge industrial application in lock and latch making industry as it is a very simple design and easy to fabricate.
WE CLAIM:
1. A modified tower bolt/ latch for door/ window comprising a slider housing (1) in which the slider bar (2) slides, a slider knob (3) and a metallic clip (4) provided on one of the locking side of the slider bar (2).
5 2. The modified tower bolt/ latch for door/ window WHEREIN the mechanism of locking and unlocking of the tower bolt/latch as claimed in claim 1 is as below:
- To lock the door/window, slider bar (2) is slided upward for latching/locking the door/window and bar knob (3) is bent toward left or right so that it does not unlatch/unlock when door/window is jerked; 10
- To unlock door/window by bringing back the slider bar knob (3) to central position, metallic clip (4) is pressed that pushes the slide bar knob (3) upwards which provide user a good grip on the knob and slider bar (2) can be easily slide down for unlatching/unlocking.
