Abstract: The present invention relates to a motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle. More particularly, the present invention relates to amounting bracket for the motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle.
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a motorcycle type two-wheeled
vehicle. More particularly, the present invention relates to a mounting bracket for the motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicles are one of the most affordable
forms of motorized transport and for most of the world's population they are the most common type of motor vehicle. Conventionally, the" motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle comprises a frame assembly, onto which all mechanical, electrical and fairing or bodywork parts are mounted.
[0003] Generally, the frame assembly of the motorcycle type two-wheeled
vehicle is a load bearing structure normally fabricated as a single piece using components such as steel tube sections, channel sections and gussets welded together in a predetermined configuration. Typically, the mechanical and electrical parts of the' motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle such as the seat assembly, side cover, footrest assembly, stand, fuel tank and shock absorbers, grab handles and steering assemblies are mounted or fixed on the frame assembly at predetermined locations. Thus, besides providing basic strength and stiffness to the motorcycle type two-wheeled vehicle and holding the vehicle parts and bearing the weight thereof, the frame assembly also takes loads resulting from engine vibrations, gear change forces, wheel excitation and handling loads such as putting the vehicle on or off a stand.
[0004] In an existing motorcycle type. two-wheeled vehicle, a plurality of
brackets corresponding to the mounting of a number of mechanical and electrical parts of the vehicle are welded on said frame assembly. Thus, increasing the number of parts, welds, overall cost and weight of the vehicle. Furthermore, the increased number of welding involved in the process of fixedly securing said plurality of the brackets on the frame assembly for the purpose of mounting the number of mechanical and electrical parts on the vehicle results in welding
distortions, or mounting deformations during movement or transportation of the vehicle and hence leads to inaccuracies in the dimensions and tolerances of the frame assembly. Thus, the dimensional variations caused by the increased number of parts and welds affects the aerodynamic considerations of the vehicle and can lead to .significant expense in remounting of different vehicle parts and assemblies. Furthermore, mounting provisions in the form of at least one mounting hole formed in one or more brackets welded on the frame assembly of the vehicle are visible in a complete view of the vehicle and hence affects the aesthetic value and appearance of the vehicle.
[0005] Hence, it is desirable to provide an improved at least one mounting
provision for detachably securing the number of mechanical and electrical parts on the vehicle frame assembly. Further, it is needed to provide an improved and modified at least one mounting provision for one or more mechanical, electrical parts of the vehicle which can withstand damage and distortion caused in the frame assembly due to the vibrations and deflection of said one or more mechanical, electrical parts of the vehicle mounted to the frame assembly.
