Abstract: A download, upload, analysis and display device for post event data related to vehicle maintenance. The invention extract meaningful data from processor based system supporting digital interfaces, analyze it further and convert it to the form that can be displayed to generate simplified information to the ground support staff. The system also upload the data to the desired memory location of the processor based system.
This invention relates to download and upload of maintenance data from the processor based system through suitable digital interfaces and the ability of the device to display the results in simplified format.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Earlier existing system for downloading the data from the processor based system was mainly focused on onlydownloading and simple display. The display of analyzed result was not in manner to attract the attention of the user towards necessary critical events in terms of maintenance. The implementation was so complicated for mere addition of single feature. Also, there was no facilty to download the maintenance data (the data which provides the details of the various health parameters of the parts of the vehicle) which is stored in the memory of the processor based system. The facility of uploading the vehicle parts details and its amendment was missing in the system. In addition to above mentioned dificiencies, other system also lacks the facility of 3 dimensional display in general.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
While the invention is capable of fulfilling its objective in many different forms, it is shown in the drawings and will herein be described in detail. This invention is generalized one which has capability to serve its purpose on a processor based system having Ethernet interface and memory for maintenance data storage.
The tool chosen for Graphical User Interface development forthis invention is Labview which is easy to understand and comprise of functions which is easy to use. Basic building blocks are available in the tool, which are used collectively to develop the device features more efficiently and effectively. The selected tool is free from many overheadslike non-inclusion of library for utilisation. The present invention is designed on Labview tool to provide attractive interface and the excellent functionality to the user.
Referring to FIG.1, the connection arrangement of device 20 (embodiment) with the processor based system 30 through Ethernet is shown. After powering ON of device, connection can be established between 20 & 30 in accordance with Ethernet protocol. Desired operations are carried out to achieve the objectives. A suitable battery pack 35 is used to energise the processor based system 30.
Referring to FIG.2, device 20 security aspect is shown. A database of user 60 is created so that only authenticated users have accessibility to the device 20. Each user has its own username and password. If any user whose details are present in the database enter his username and password 50 can get access to use the functionality of the device 20. Accessibility to the undesired user is denied in the device 20 to protect the data from getting into wrong hands. New users can be created based on requirements subject to availability of pre-authentication from power users 70. Necessary user database can be uploaded/altered based on the user requirements.
The device 20 is capable of connecting to similar types of devices placed at different location for effective sharing of database and user related information via secured channels.
Referring to FIG.3, flow of the functionality of the device 20 is shown. One more security step 80 is added for the user to access the functionality of the device 20. The password required here is common for all the user present in the database. Power On/Off button 90 is present on the GUI (Graphical User Interface) to start the device so that further operation can be performed. After pressing power on switch, the device On/Off button 100 starts glowing indicating that different functionality of the device are ready to operate.
On clicking the processor based system status icon 110 present on the device 20, necessary commands are initiated and send to the processor based system 30. In return, processor based system 30 sends the acknowledgement to the device 20 by flashing “device connected” 120 message. It also sendsdevice identification number, checksum, version number etc. depending on the requirements. If the device sends no acknowledgement then “Not Connected” 130 message is flashed after pre-defined time. After the connection establishment between device 20 and processor based system 30, user can proceed for further operation.
After receiving connection status of the processor based system 30, the user can download maintenance data 150 from the memory location of the processor based system 30 using device 20, displays the results170 of events happened by choosing any one of them, upload the required details160 and can represent the comparision of more than one events in tabular and graphical form180.
Referring to FIG.4, flow illustrating the download of maintenance data is shown. On clicking the maintenance data icon 150, processing of the downloaded data starts 210 to extract the useful data and remove the various protocol headers. After downloading of data, file name 220 as per aircraft details from pre-fed database and time stamping to save the downloaded data of that particular event in organized manner is initiated. Message “saving of data done” 220 appears to indicate the end of downloading and storing of data.
Referring to FIG.5, flow of uploading of data or part details is shown. A GUI window appears 260 on clicking the details upload icon 160 having options of browse configuration file to upload 270, enter part details to upload 280 and amendment of previously uploaded part details 290. User can upload the configuration file required to upload in the memory of the device. In uploading part details, part names will be
present on GUI window. User can feed the details of each part and can verify theentries on the other non-editable window before final uploading the details into processor based system 30. If any details are incorrectly entered, then user can go back to edit the wrong entries. A pop window appears 310 to ask for the confirmation to upload whenever the user choose to upload the details and can give warning if the details are incorrect.
User can also make amendment in the previously uploaded part details. Previously uploaded details will be downloaded and details of each part can be shown in tabular form. User can amend one or more part details from the list of details of parts and upload it again. This facility is provided to the user if he want to change the details of atleast some of the parts. The user can check whether uploading is done successfully or not 300.
Referring to FIG.6, flow for the display of results is shown. On clicking icon 170, a GUI window appears. A browsing window appears to browse the file from the events happened on clicking the load file icon 340. The selected file contains the analyzed results. Further processing of the analyzed data is done to convert it into the format so that it can be displayed by the means of various indicators like LED’s, meter gauge, tank indicator, dial gauge etc. 360. Some of the parameters will also be displayed in 3D form. The appearance of the indicators has been kept in a way to facilitate the user to read the results and provide effectiveness to the GUI. Tab control 350 is provided to see the maintenance results of different parts of the vehicle.
Referring to FIG.7, facilty for tabular and graphical representation is shown. On clicking icon 180, a GUI window will appear for entering more than one number of events 390 which user want to compare. There are two options for comparision, first one being graphical representation 400 and the other being tabular representation 410. In graphical representation comparision is done in bar graph form, comparing each parameter of the n number of events. In tabular representation comparision is done by displaying the values of parameters in the table.
