Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for,multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips. Multi-finishing of watch hands converts the multi-faceted watch hands surface to different texture by electro plating, lacquer, sand blasting or by a metal brush.

FIELD OF INVENTION
[001] The present invention relates to the field of watch hands. More particularly, the present invention relates to the system and method for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[002] Blanking is a metal fabricating process, during which a metal work-piece is removed from the primary metal strip or sheet when it is punched using a press tool. The material that is removed is the new metal work-piece or blank (figure 1 (a).
[003] Publication No. FR2856022 relates to a plate or a unit of a hard steel plate having a shape of a character along a cut line with a laser beam to obtain a punch and a blanking die of the character. The cut has a variable thickness of 0.10 to 0.20 millimeters corresponding, to a diameter of the laser beam of cutting. The die is constituted of a complementary part of the punch on the plate or the unit of the plate. An independent claim is also included for embossing punch and blanking die tools for the formation of the characters on double type number plates.
[004] Publication No. JP2001194469 relates to a hand for clock which can reduce the power consumption, and accordingly, can prolong the service life of a battery for clock by constituting the hand of a corrosion-resistance thin Mg alloy and designing the hand in a highly visible state, and to provide a method of manufacturing the hand. Solution: The metallic hand for clock is made of an Mg alloy containing 0.15-2.0 wt.% Mn. The method of manufacturing the hand includes a step of manufacturing an Mg-alloy sheet, having a thickness of 100-300 jam by hot rolling the Mg alloy in the temperature range of 200-450 deg.C, a step of making pilot holes through the Mg-alloy sheet, and a step of blanking and push-back blanking the sheet into a hand-like shape. The method also includes a step of patterning the surface of the push-back blanked hand, a step of blanking

through the push-back blanked hand form the sheet, and a step of performing surface finishing, such as plating, coating, printing, etc., on the hand for the clock.
[005] Publication No. JPS5752544 relates to a hand of good appearance by projecting a pipe by coining to the rear surface of a second hand body and at the same time, providing a hole part for mounting movement to this pipe. Constitution: A pipe is projected by coining to the rear surface of a second hand body consisting of a mild metallic blank material such as Al or Al alloy; at the same time, a hole part for mounting movement is worked to this pipe. The surface part is cut with a diamond in order to obtain desired thickness and specular finish; in addition, it is subjected to blanking of an outside shape simultaneously with forming of a surface shape by striking.
[006] Publication No. JPS62185888 relates to mass production of hands having many and diversified patterns by printing resin ink to the surface of the hand for a portable watch which is preliminarily polished, curing the ink and roughening the surface then removing the above-mentioned ink. The masking ink consisting of a resin such as epoxy, phenol, acryl, nylon, 'Teflon(R),f polyester, etc., is printed on the surface of the part corresponding to the hand based on the holes and is cured to form masking. The outside surface of the mask is roughened by a liquid, dry chemical, etc., and after the surface is thoroughly cleaned, the material is subjected to blanking with a press machine based on the holes. The ink of the hand as a single body is removed by an org. solvent type release agent.
[007] Publication No. JPH024982 relates to a colored hand for watch having metallic luster and full of color variety by subjecting a metallic hoop to required machining and then to ornamental plating, forming a colored electrodeposited resin layer on both sides of the above or selectively only on the top of the above, baking this resin layer, and then carrying out finish blanking into a hand shape. Constitution: Machining, such as surface pressing, pipe forming, and, pipe caulking, is applied to a hoop of brass, nickel silver, etc., having a hand finish blanking positioning guide hole and a center hole. Subsequently, an ornamental

plating layer of Aus Ni, etc., is formed on the above and a colored electrodeposited resin layer of blue, brown, green, etc., is further formed on both sides or selectively on the top alone, and then, the above stock is baked and subjected to finish blanking into a stand shape through the above guide hole, by which the colored hand for watch is manufactured.
[008] Publication No. JP2013 144304 relates to a blanking system and a method for manufacturing a member piece, which suppresses the degradation of manufacturing efficiency by sending a coil member in one direction without turning back the coil member, and at the same time, can perform blanking of the member piece with a plurality of shapes corresponding to a complex arrangement pattern from the coil member to improve a yield.
[009] Publication No. JPS6345396 relates to lightweight hands for wrist watches which consists of an Al material and has high corrosion resistance by subjecting a stock to press punching in the state of connecting part of the hands to a hoop substrate and subjecting the hands to surface finishing and anodic oxidation treatment then to blanking and chemical conversion treatment. The surface of the Al (alloy) stock is finished to a specular surface and the stock is continuously punched with a press to obtain the second hands 1 which are held connected to the hoop substrate. The top surfaces of the second hands 1 are finished by diamond cutting or buffing and are subjected to wet plating, dry plating, etc. or to the anodic oxidation treatment. The second hands are further subjected to coloring and sealing treatments to form a colored and anodized film thereon and thereafter the hand blanks are blanked.

[Oil] Publication No. DE10151188 relates to a plate comprising a base provided with an electroluminescent layer covered with a light-transmitting plastic layer. The invention also relates to a method for fabricating said plate. The aim of the invention is to allow production of plates, especially licence plates, which can be produced in a substantially fraudless and cost-effective manner. For that purpose, light-absorbing alphanumerical characters are glued on the plastic layer in such a way that at least the contours of the characters remain recognisable after removal of said characters.

hydraulic cylinder, a back pressure valve on a rod side, a damping throttling opening, a stroke termination point positioning valve, a one-way valve and a pipeline which are connected with one another, wherein the double-action hydraulic cylinder is a piston rod fixed type hydraulic cylinder.
[016] Publication No. JP2002336917 relates to a blanking press device which has the structure of general press work machinery and with which durability over a long term is secured. This blanking press device is provided with a lower-die-side punch and a lower-die-side counter punch which are provided on a lower die, an upper-die-side punch and an upper-die-side counter punch which are provided on an upper die, a pushing-out part for making the upper-die- side counter punch movable forward and backward to the upper die and a back pressure generating part connected to the pushing-out part so as to impart the back pressure to force received from the pushing-out part. The back pressure generating part is a hydraulic back pressure generating device with which the back pressure is generated when the upper die is lowered and not generated when the upper die is elevated.

hydraulic presses, and aims at solving the technical problem that the fine blanking hydraulic presses in the prior art cannot detect the waste materials. The fine blanking hydraulic press comprises an upper cross beam, a main sliding block, a hydraulic cylinder and a hydraulic control system, wherein the main sliding block is located below the upper cross beam; the hydraulic cylinder is used for driving the main sliding block to move; the hydraulic control system communicates with the hydraulic cylinder through an oil line; the upper cross beam is provided with an upper stamping mould; the main sliding block is provided with a lower stamping mould; the hydraulic control system comprises a controller, a pressure sensor and a displacement sensor; the pressure sensor is used for detecting the oil pressure of the oil line communicating with the hydraulic cylinder; the displacement sensor is used for detecting the movement displacement of the main sliding block; and the controller is used for carrying out waste material detection according to detection signals fed back by the pressure sensor and the displacement sensor.

[020] Thus generally watch hands has single front face. Multi- faceted hands as the name suggest provide more than single face to watch hands and enhance the detailing & look. This is as high precision & complicated process which involves

special tools and machineries. The tool used is a Diamond tool which is used to cut on brass strip for getting mirror finish polish on the cutting surface,
[021] Present invention aims to provide multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[022] The principal object of the present invention is to provide a system and method for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips.
[023] Another object of the present invention is to simple and easy system for multi-faceting and muJti-finishing of watch hands in strips
[024] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide automatic multi faceting system used for cutting one to three faces maximum.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[025] Present invention relates to multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips. Multi-finishing of watch hands converts the multi-faceted watch hands surface to different texture by electro plating, lacquer, sand blasting or by a metal brush. A press tool is provided with spring loaded knockouts for watch hands profile blanking and pressing back into the strip

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTIONS
[033] Accordingly, the present invention relates to an improved system for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips. Multi-finishing of watch hands converts the multi-faceted watch hands surface to different texture by electro plating, lacquer, sand blasting or by a metal brush.
[034] Referring to the figure 1 a system for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips comprises at least two spindles (0.1), servo motor (02) to rotates the aluminium bed (03) on which hands are arranged over brass fixture (04).
[035] Multi faceting machine is used for cutting one to three faces maximum. The functioning of machine is automatic thus the operator has to feed the fixture plate containing watch hands during each cycle. The watch hands are initially profile blanked and it is immediately pressed backed into the same brass strip which is used for blanking. The brass strip is then cut to the length of the brass fixture and is glued on to the plate using special adhesive. The brass fixture plate has guide pins to locate the brass strip accurately each time, the pilot holes which is Pierced prior to profile blanking operation is used as a reference for locating. The fixture plate is then placed on the machine servo bed which can feed the plate in consecutive positions using servo motor. The pitch can be programmed to requirement. The machine has two spindles. Depending up on the type of operation either one or both spindles can be used simultaneously. When the cycle is on the spindles starts rotating and the bed which is holding the fixture plate travels up. Once faceting operation is completed the bed travels down and moves

to the next pitch. This process is repeated until all the hands on the fixture plate are faceted. If the requirement is more than two faces in the watch hand the fixture plate has to undergo the same operation again.
[036] The invention is described in detail with reference to the examples given below. The examples are provided just to illustrate the invention and therefore, should not be construed to limit the scope of the invention.
EXAMPLES
Example 1
[037] Two tone angle cut finish (Two Face hands) is shown in figiure 2 a and b. One side lacquer and plating finish on the other face finish is done in two setting. At first the brass strip where the hands are pressed back after blanking is fixed on the fixture plate and loaded in the machine. This process uses the first spindle initially which is tilted to get the desired angle for angle cutting. After the first cutting operation the brass strip is removed and is lacquered. The strips are again loaded in the machine and uses second spindle for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the other side of watch hand. After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the strips and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be lacquered finish one side and plated finish on the other.
[038] One side plating and other side brushed finish is done in two setting. At first the brass strip where the hands are pressed back after blanking is fixed on the fixture plate and loaded in the machine. This process uses the first spindle initially which is tilted to get the desired angle for angle cutting. After the first cutting operation the brass strip is removed and undergoes a brushing operation which creates vertical lines on the watch hands. The strips are again loaded in the machine and uses second spindle for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the other side of watch hand. After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the strips and electro plating is done to achieve the

desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be brushed finish one side and plated finish on the other (fig 3).

After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the strips and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be sand blast finish one side and plated finish on the other (fig 4).
Example 2
Two tone Multi-faceted hands (Three Face hands)
[040] Angle cut in the sides and flat cut finish at the centre is done in two setting. At first the brass strip where the hands are pressed back after blanking is fixed on the fixture plate and loaded in the machine. This process uses the first spindle initially which is set flat to get the flat cutting. The brass strip are again loaded in the machine and uses both spindle simultaneously for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the both side of watch hand. After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the brass strip and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be a three face watch hands with plated finish (fig 5a and 5b).
[041] Angle cut in the sides and sand blasting finish at the centre is done in two setting. At first the brass strip where the hands are pressed back after blanking is fixed on the fixture plate and loaded in the machine. This process uses the first spindle initially which is set flat to get the flat cutting. After the first cutting

operation the brass strip is removed and undergoes a sand blasting operation which creates a satin finish on the watch hands. The brass strip are again loaded in the machine and uses both spindle simultaneously for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the both side of watch hand. After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the brass strip and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be a three face watch hands with plated finish on two sides and sand blast finish at the centre (fig 6).

After the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the brass strip and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes. The end result will be a three face watch hands with plated finish on two sides and brush finish at the centre.

[043] Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the true spirit and scope of this invention.

WE CLAIM

1. A system for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips comprises at least two spindles (01), servo motor (02) to rotates the aluminium bed (03) on which hands are arranged over brass fixture (04) wherein the watch hands are initially profile blanked and it is immediately pressed backed into the same brass strip which is used for blanking, the brass strip is then cut to the length of the brass fixture and is glued on to the plate using special adhesive, the brass fixture plate has guide pins to locate the brass strip accurately each time, the pilot holes which is pierced prior to profile blanking operation is used as a reference for locating, the fixture plate is then placed on the servo bed which can feed the plate in consecutive positions using servo motor, the pitch can be programmed to requirement, and depending up on the type of operation either one or both spindles can be used simultaneously, when the cycle is on the spindles starts rotating and the bed which is holding the fixture plate travels up, once faceting operation is completed the bed travels down and moves to the next pitch, this process is repeated until all the hands on the fixture plate are faceted and if the requirement is more than two faces in the watch hand the fixture plate has to undergo the same operation again.

The system for multi-faceting and multi-finishing of watch hands in strips, as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein in one side plating and other side brushed finish at first the brass strip where the hands are pressed back after blanking is fixed on the fixture plate and loaded in the machine, after the first cutting operation the brass strip is removed and undergoes a brushing operation which creates vertical lines on the watch hands, the strips are again loaded in the machine and uses second spindle for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the other side of watch hand, after the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the strips and electro plating is done

The end result will be a three face watch hands with plated finish on two sides and sand blast finish at the centre

machine, after the first cutting operation the brass strip is removed and undergoes a brushing operation which creates vertical lines on the watch hands, the brass strip are again loaded in the machine and uses both spindle simultaneously for cutting which is again tilted to get the desired angle on the both side of watch hand, after the second cutting the pressed back hands are removed from the brass strip and electro plating is done to achieve the desired finish like nickel, gold, black-oxidation or rhodium finishes.
